A third-party ad is circulating on streaming networks claiming that Chris Pappas is working to make housing more affordable. It implies that he’s the only one and that we need him to keep working on the problem.
It is untrue that he’s the only one, and the messaging ignores that many of his proposals involve taking money from taxpayers to provide financial incentives or support. The latter is important. When Democrats use the word affordable, it comes with hooks.
The first is that they mean someone else should subsidize it. Tax one set of hands so they can bring it to another. But the receiver needs to jump through hoops for the benefit, and those hoops are held by government employees and NGOs that grow the size and cost of government while depleting the so-called benefit.
Second, this interference warps the market and drives costs up. Things get more expensive for everyone not eligible for the benefit because of the benefit, which triggers the change agent to extract more taxes.
Government gets even bigger. Favored NGOs get fatter. Everything costs more, but someone like Pappas can claim he’s lowering costs when all he’s doing is raising the share someone else must pay to create the perception.
It’s all a lie, and it is how democrats do everything. The result is something like this.
Despite making Trump’s tax cuts permanent, saving regular Americans and small business owners about 4 trillion dollars in federal tax hikes, a bill which Democrats like Chris Pappas voted against, the cost of taxes is one of our biggest affordability problems. Had that bill not passed, these numbers would be worse, and it is no secret that Democrats always create new taxes and raise old ones.
Taxes are our biggest affordability problem, and Democrats can’t do anything without making that problem worse.
If you don’t cut or shrink the size of government first, nothing will ever get cheaper. Government-first Democrats will continue to tax and regulate the cost of everything through the roof. Look at California or New York.
They’ll say it is in your best interest, but the truth is a horse of a different color. Or should I say a donkey of the same color. The government benefits because it gets bigger and fatter. Politicians benefit from the lie that making someone else pay makes things more ‘affordable.’ Fraudsters and criminals benefit by making bank on a corruptible system they couldn’t take advantage of if the cow was smaller or didn’t exist (which leads to cries for more funding and higher taxes. And the fourth branch of government, the progressive NGOs, benefit, laundering money into programs, activist groups, and even candidates who keep building gravy boats for elected officials to fill with someone else’s money.
Ignore the noise and ask the penetrating question. If you are serious about affordability, tell me which taxes you are going to lower or end? What government programs are you going to cut or audit? Where can you get government out of the way, so the markets are no longer warped by the promise of government money?
Democrats don’t cut taxes. They don’t shrink government. They don’t do affordable; they don’t investigate fraud, and anyone who says otherwise is ignorant, lying, or benefits from the scam.
