The Virginia state elections were sold as proof of Republican mid-term doom. The psycho lefties ran on affordability, and voters swept them into power at all levels of state government. Threatening children couldn’t stop them. States like New York, California, and other Blue states, where nothing is affordable, were not a sufficient warning. So they won. They are in. Democrats took the wheel.
The new majority is in, and we can see what they mean by affordability.
What we see is what I keep saying. Democrats couldn’t find affordability if it bit them in the ass.
New 4.3% sales tax on Uber Eats, Amazon, etc. deliveries.
– New sales tax on admissions to a wide variety of businesses.
– Create two new higher tax brackets of 8% and 10% on people making over $600K.
– A new 10% tax bracket for anyone making over $1M.
– 3.8% investment tax on top of state income taxes.
– Raise the hotel tax.
– New personal property tax on landscaping equipment.
– Ban gas powered leaf blowers.
– Guarantee illegal aliens free education.
– Make it illegal to approach somebody at an abortion clinic.
– Extend the time absentee ballots can be received after election day to three days
– Allow people to cast their votes electronically through the internet.
– Expand ranked-choice voting.
– Extend the deadline for ballot curing to one week after election day.
– Redact the addresses of political candidates from FOIAs.
– Add Virginia to the National Popular Vote Compact for presidential electors.
– Make it illegal to hand count ballots.
– $500 sales tax on firearm suppressors .
– ‘Assault weapons’ and large capacity magazine ban.
– 11% sales tax on all firearms and ammunition.
– Prohibit outdoor shooting of a firearm on land less than 5 acres.
– Lower the criminal penalties for robbery.
– Ban the arrest of illegal aliens in courthouses.
– Remove mandatory minimum sentences.
– Allow localities to install speed cameras.
– Replace Columbus Day with ‘Indigenous Peoples Day.’
Two themes same end result.
First, there are many factors here that raise the cost of living in Virginia, and they are not all obvious. The tax hikes and sales taxes are easy to see, but several will make things cost more, while others will cost millions in legal fees if they become law.
And that was the rhetorical “day one.”
Personally, I love this. Democrats are almost all the same. The national party controls the state parties who control their candidates. The caucus intimidates its own members to keep them in line and works double-time to remove dissenters from any part of the approved list of party priorities. Abortion, men in women’s, grows government power before all else (which means size, cost, scope, and interference for which you must always pay more because there is no such thing as enough of it or your money to fund it. Another reward for buying into the lies. There will be more victims of crime, but criminals will increasingly get off with lighter sentences, if they get charged at all. One example.
Evidence of waste, fraud, or abuse will be silenced or censored whenever possible, and lawfare is used to keep you quiet or shut you up. They have lawyers and lots of someone else’s money, and you have…you. This makes not just having but defending your rights unaffordable, which is the real crux of the problem.
Hey, Somalis, Virginia is looking like a great place to set up a ‘learing’ or some kind of “care” center. Heck, just about anyone will have a path to fraud, as long as you send the state party and its candidates some kickback goodness. It certainly makes life more affordable for the “refugees” and the political class that enables them at your expense.
You can’t afford Democrats in any vector of existence, and they will keep fearmongering and lying to get elected.
They did it in Virginia, and now Virginians will pay the price.
America, from dog catcher to US Senator, if you vote for Democrats in the midterms, or in any election, they will make your life more unaffordable, just like Democrats have in California, New York, Minnesota, and now Virginia.
If you want your life to cost less, do not vote for a Democrat.
