MACDONALD: Making Everything Unaffordable, Forever

As I reported, or perhaps opined, on this week’s edition of GrokTALK!, Democrats are talking about affordability around a mouthful of policy objectives that do the opposite. And as noted here, “A Democrat wouldn’t know affordability if it bit them in the ass. Not one thing they propose, have done, or might do makes life or living more affordable. Quite the opposite.”

You don’t need any degree in anything to know this is true (just live under Democrat rule), but one of the easiest examples was the focus of my attention on Monday’s GrokTALK!. Energy. Electricity. Democrats are blaming Trump for the rise in costs because they have to deflect blame from themselves.

To borrow from Barry O, he inherited those from his predecessor, and in this instance, he did, just like when Trump replaced Barry, and this is the new normal, stagnated economy. Mr. Trump blew that narrative up, and the economy exploded in the best way possible until the Globalists wrecked it with their plandemic response. They got Uncle Joe “elected,” which set us on a crash course to unaffordability as the new normal, but that resulted in Trump’s return, and he’s doing everything he can to make Electricity affordable again. Still, it will take more than a year or two, and we need to be patient.

While we wait, we need to ensure America knows why everything costs more, how this is deliberate Democrat policy, and why, despite their rhetoric, they plan to keep it not just expensive but to make it more so. Make what more expensive? Everything. And it can be summed up by Joe Biden during the 2020 campaign. He and his part will end the use of fossil fuels.

The plan, and no one on the left is shy about this, is to replace fossil fuels with so-called renewables. TO achieve an energy utopia that is actually less believable and even more impossible than that other opioid den induced fantast, the socialist one. And the easiest way to explain it comes from a report titled “Blue States’ High Rates.”

If you want a local, New England example of the impossibly expensive outcome of the stated objective, this gets that job done.

If we ignore all the carbon emission costs of manufacturing, transportation, installation, maintenance, replacement, and end-of-life waste stream, Net-Zero is still a significant waste of resources at a cost no one can afford. An unnecessary transition to solve a problem that doesn’t even exist, and that we might not be able to come back from.

Blue States High Rates

If renewables were cheaper or brought down electricity prices, states like California and New York ought to have the lowest cost per kWh in America. It’s the opposite.

California is second in the nation in total electricity generation from renewable resources and leads the country in utility-scale solar generating capacity. California’s generation mix is 42% natural gas, 39% non-hydroelectric renewables, 12% hydroelectric, and 7% nuclear.

California’s electricity rates are the second-highest in the nation. Rates are double the national average. Governor Newsom and California’s state legislature have embraced numerous policies that intentionally increase electricity rates, including a carbon dioxide reduction mandate, renewable mandates, solar cost-shifting (net metering), nuclear reactor closures, and EV charging subsidies, to name a few.

I picked on California in the episode of GrokTALK! and here for good reason. The New England states surrounding me (here in New Hampshire) bought into California’s plan and its mandates. Their embrace is adding to existing energy policy meant to make electricity unaffordable. Neither the math nor the science arrives at any other conclusion. What they claim cannot be achieved, and continued efforts will bankrupt us, while paying for parallel systems to maintain the illusion (their intermittent system requires fossil fuel backup) also drive up costs.

No Democrat plan makes electricity less expensive, and their agenda necessarily raises costs indefinitely. Energy costs affect everyone and everything—the cost of manufacturing, goods, and services, and even the cost of government. Everyone pays more. Citizens at home, including independent and undecided low-information voters, pay more for everything they buy and every service they need, as their taxes rise to cover higher energy costs to run an ever-expanding government that Democrats will continually grow.

Feel free to add the cost of that added government itself to the bill. No blue states are shrinking the size or cost of government. They do not know how to do that either, filing lawsuits to stop it when others try. Their agenda is impossible without it and, by design, unaffordable.

A Democrat is incapable of making anything affordable unless we include subsidies, which, if we use Obamacare as an example, mean costs must still rise indefinitely, even after stealing more money from taxpayers to numb the impact of inevitable increases.

Democrats claiming to be concerned about affordability are lying. They have no plan that does anything but make everything more expensive with a side of regulatory excess to police the rise, which, as we discovered during COVID, includes policing anyone who dares to point out any of these more than obvious facts to the general public.
