No situation in Washington politics brings about more finger-pointing than a government shutdown. Every politician who has a mic placed in front of them spews the same line: “it’s the other Parties shutdown.” That line addresses the Party line, but also absolves them of having to address what they are doing to avoid the shutdown. As expected, Hakeem Jeffries is misleading the American public by claiming that a bipartisan plan is available that would prevent the shutdown. Still, the Republicans will not entertain it as a solution. It is a lie. There is no bipartisan plan, and the demands of the Democrats are an insult to every American.
What the Republicans are looking for before Tuesday night is a two-month extension of the deadline. There is a continuing resolution in play that would maintain current spending levels and allow both Parties to work on a spending bill for the year. The Democrats want their spending proposal adopted, but there is no way it will happen.
The Democrats are looking to reinstate many of the spending cuts identified by DOGE, including all of the WOKE programs of the USAID. Hakeem Jeffries is also claiming every chance he gets that the Republicans are cutting healthcare for most Americans. This claim is simply a false statement. What has been cut is medical payments for Illegal Aliens that the Joe Biden administration had appropriated. The total amount of spending that the Democrats want added is $1.4 trillion. They will not, nor should they get it. Period.
The Democrats learned nothing from the 2024 beating they took at the polls. They are on the wrong side of immigration, crime, or public safety. Their policies are basically opposite to anything that comes out of the Trump White House. If he said tonight that breathing was necessary for life, the Democrats would hold their breath until they passed out. Trump Derangement Syndrome is no longer a myth; it is a reality without a cure.
A government shutdown is not the worst thing that could happen to America. All essential services like Social Security, Medicare, Defense, heck, even Congress will get paid. Amazing how they took care of their own during any impending shutdown. At 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, no alarms will sound, nor will sirens be activated. Everyone will sleep until their alarms sound and then go about their day.
The Party with the most significant media presence will win this battle, and the mainstream media will be on the side of Chuck and Hakeem. The message, however, will damage the Democrats. The truth has to expose the priorities of the Left. America will survive a shutdown, but it should be another blow to an already reeling Democratic Party. With a 30% approval rating, how much further can it fall? We’ll get back to you on that.
