Obama, Pelosi, Schumer, and Biden all had it wrong since 2015 when they proclaimed that Donald Trump would never be President of the United States. They couldn’t read the tea leaves then, and though they tried to destroy him in court for four years, he is back again. Trump has the luxury of a majority in the House, Senate, and Supreme Court, though the margin of error is slim across the board. If he can get his Big Beautiful Bill through Congress and on his desk for his signature before July 4, he will be in a position to rank amongst the top Presidents in history, though he will never get the credit from half the country. If Congress fails, then the Trump Tax Cuts will expire, and Americans will face a double-digit tax increase that will destroy all of the positive gains in the economy. The Democrats are willing to risk this catastrophic scenario to deny Trump a win. We are not a two-party country. We are now Trump lovers and haters.
Trump has had a magnificent couple of weeks in what has been an amazing and dynamic first six months. We have eliminated Iran’s nuclear ambitions and forced them back to the negotiating table with Israel. Peace may have been restored in the Middle East without a single American boot touching the ground.
The Democrats have been predicting high inflation and a possible recession since Trump first uttered his favorite word: tariff. Likewise, the Left predicted a precipitous drop in the market. None of these ever came to fruition. The S&P 500 and NASDAQ are both up 17% since January 1. The only thing holding back the economy from erupting is interest rates. Trump is imploring Jerome Powell and the Fed to drop rates, but Powell is not reacting.
Trump has had a string of successes in the Supreme Court involving cases from child safety to illegal immigration. The President had a very successful trip to NATO where he came back with the new nickname, “Daddy,” and a 5% of GDP commitment from the members for their defense spending. That is a key element of NATO that Trump has been working on since his first term.
With all of these wins, Trump can get no recognition from the Left. The lies, rhetoric, and propaganda continue with every soundbite and TV ad from the Left. Ditto for social media. One of our NH Senators, Maggie Hassan, who is not shy to twisting the truth, has been blasting the so-called Medicaid cuts and how they will devastate everyone in some way. The cuts in Medicaid are to trim the fraud and get folks off the program who should not be enrolled. Medicaid was never designed for illegals or for able body Americans who do not want to work. There are 30 million Americans below the poverty level who qualify for Medicaid. Currently, over 70 million Americans utilize Medicaid benefits. That is 40 million people who should be cut from the ranks.
We are rooting for Democrats to continue their trend of being on the wrong side of issues. Between that streak and electing a communist mayor in New York City, Republicans should own the midterms.
