Sometimes the ideas line up in good order and, one by one, arrive at the front of the line to find themselves explored as 600 (ish) word recon ops on these pages. Other times, they linger on the edge of consciousness, teasing from the shadowy recesses of the imagination. The latter may vanish altogether or combine with similar ideas to become something tangible and present.
This idea has been picking at the frayed edges of the naguhydye door handle of some classic beater. There’s a hole through which I can see the deteriorated foam padding beneath, and to be honest, I’m not sure if we’ve been here before. Not so much the topic generally, but the connotations more specifically.
The political left is tripping over itself to dem-splain its universal objection to white South Africans emigrating to America as political refugees. I’ve written elsewhere, perhaps in my head but not on the page, that these farmers are descended from generations of men and women whose families have farmed the fields of South Africa for generations. More generations than there have been Americans.
Is that long enough to make them indigenous, especially when the original settlers arrived on land mostly unoccupied at the time? There is, after all, nowhere on earth where man is indigenous, unless we look back into the oceans of pre-history from which we are alleged to have crawled. Every speck of dry land was free of people until people arrived. Every “people” has been displaced by others. There are few, if any, legitimate claims to anything anywhere that was not a result of conquest or simply showing up and producing larger numbers, better technology, or a domineering culture. No one is from there, wherever there is, but tenure has its merits if you happen to have the correct skin color. That is the current dilemma of the left. They are the party of slavery, Jim Crow, and the last holdouts after the cultural and political fallout of the American Civil War. It is Democrats who obsess over the color of our skin, and in the context of the Afrikaner refugees, the problem is stark white.
Families with children filed for refugee status. About 70 people in all, give or take. They arrived legally, announced, waving American flags. They already speak the language and have skills, so finding legal work ought not be an issue. And Democrat leadership and their talking heads, black skinned, white skinned, it makes no difference, can’t seem to stop hating all of that. They defended unvetted open borders. Armies of people of color. But a few score white people are too many.
One of those notes I have lingering in the shadowy recesses of my mind is that Democrats can’t conceive of a white person as anything but racist. We should do something unusual and take them at their word. All white Democrats are racists and not just toward black people. There is no way in which they can see the value of someone or something beyond what they look like. It literally colors their entire worldview, and we need to ask why anyone with that handicap would or should be allowed to make policy affecting human beings of any shade.
Black Democrat leadership isn’t any different. They promote anti-racism, which is just racism. And while hating whites might be the latest left-wing trend, black Democrats are neither kind to people of color. Look at city schools, urban crime, and the dependency culture. Problems Democrats created, which they then blame on all white people, when it was White Democrats with the help of Black Democrats who did all that damage.
The leadership of the American Political left is obsessed with race supremacy, which leads to another note scribbled in those eshadowy margins of my brain. Hitler rose to power on the idea of racial supremacy, which is probably why Democrat leadership projects it on everyone they view as a political opponent.
The left is the threat to peace, harmony, Democracy, and the Republic, and even they know it.
