Where is the pushback on Dem mayors moaning about having their federal police funding cut?
Who can be anything but amused by local Democrats complaining about federal funding cuts that affect local police departments? DOGE is digging through the Federal Government’s fiscal backyard and uncovering a lot of old bones. There is waste, fraud, money laundering, misappropriation, and abuse. It also gives the President guidance on the recycling of local money back to states, counties, and towns after the Feds take a cut.
Some of those cuts appear to include special funding for police Departments, and local Dems are mad as hell. I have not dug into specifics. The cuts are primarily theoretical, based on the shrill whine of Democrat gears. Exhortations reminiscent of Mortimer Duke in Trading Places.
Are the rants little more than political posturing, like when they say DOGE will cut Social Security or Medicaid, despite them saying that won’t happen?
Are cuts (real or anticipated) more the product of choice? If a municipal government or school system refuses to dismantle its discriminatory DEI infrastructure, or LGBTQ circus tent, it has only itself to blame.
The Biden administration played the same game in the other direction, which is the only reason Trump had to bring it all back to normal.
Regardless, they are mad as hell, but take a look at some of the pictures they are painting. Very few Democrats, in or out of elected office, refused to get into BLM’s defund the police conga line. They defended the destruction of black businesses and families in the name of black lives (mostly peaceful protesting). Mobs taking over federal buildings was not an insurrection, but speaking truth to power. Autonomous zones were supported despite the crimes including rape and murder.
The only outlier was when they blamed Antifa for things attributed to BLM, but they support Antifa violence as well.
It was ridiculous, but to a man, woman, or any of the other 1,643 genders they worship, the Proglodytes bought in. Support that might still be collecting digital dust on long-forgotten social media posts. Virtue signalling Cairns; waypoints marking their 2020-2021 moral superiority tour at the expense of the urban poor and minorities.
A systemic injustice that could only be corrected by cutting police funding, which unsurprisingly made crime worse.
And now they are bitching about the Feds refusing to make other people pay for their stuff. That at least makes sense, but this is police funding. Special equipment. Police defunders are mad at the feds, in a Republican Administration, for threatening to defund their police.
Is this one of those, whatever Trump supports, we are the opposite of that ‘things’? Democrats are now pro police funding? Hardly. Whenever they find themselves short of other people’s money, especially money from people who can’t vote against them (the best kind), they kind of sort of lose their hive mind. Democrat rule is expensive and, as such, oppressive. The needs of the ruling class always grow, and the government comes first.
Public Schools are a good example. If voters cut their budget, the board and Superintendent threaten to cut teachers first, then extracurriculars, never their top-heavy administrative overhead. All Dems think this way. Any decline in funding for local government will impact everything around City Hall, but nothing within it. Police and Fire are extracurriculars to them but they also represent the best marketing potential.
Look what they did? You will be less safe because of them. This from the people who defend criminal gangs whose members are here illegally. Whose DAs refuse to prosecute a long list of crimes. Mayors and city managers who aid and abet policies that enrich drug cartels whose fentanyl is killing your kids. Rising property crime, drug trafficking, assault, rape and murder. Children molested and killed. Women trafficked and abused.
Crime and disorder were the goal, and mission accomplished, and now that someone is trying to audit the way the Federal government misuses our money, because we are fiscally insolvent and on a path to national bankruptcy, trust me when I say, they will pretend they care about public safety. They will work that narrative to the next election but won’t cut anything in City Hall to fund cops (or firefighters). There won’t be any forensic DOGE-like audits to find the money hiding in the local couch cushions.
Quite the opposite.
They will use it as an excuse to raise local taxes, continue to waste your hard-earned dollars, punish low-income folks, and blame it on someone else.
And where is BLM to protest Democrats protesting police funding cuts? They are nowhere to be found.
