The “Press” has “fluid” definitions for Free Speech depending on who legitimately gored their ox or whose ox they are trying to gore.
And too often, their (retributional) ideological persuasions override their common sense (provided they have some of the latter left):
And THIS would be MAGNIFICENT if the MSM would just go away from the stage they crave so much:
I really can’t think of anyone worse than Acosta to be asking for a WH boycott. Karoline Leavitt would no longer have opportunities to prick their oversized bubbles.
However, the time was well spent – WINNING!
“The Right responded with the rise of Citizen Journalism…”
Indeed. I remember back in 2008, riding on the McCain for President bus touring NH. Up front were a bunch of [jaded] journalists that drew the short straws having to ride with an (eew) Republican. When McCain asked who wanted to talk with him while going to the next stop, the “journalists” ignored him, and GraniteGrok went back and asked a ton of questions on all kinds of topics and not just the typical “running for President ones” just to find out who he was in the all together.
Now, we see that the New Media, which became the “Alternative Media,” has now displaced the Old Media simply by the whining that “we” have replaced them in the White House briefing room. After all, to no small amount, Trump, via Barron, reached out and was well received by “us.”
The Grok is coming up on its 19th birthday—it has taken a long time to see this happen. While I didn’t get to cover this past Presidential election, the times have changed.
Remember, journalism isn’t going to the Columbia School of Journalism or getting paid – it’s simply having the discipline to keep asking “Who, What, Where, Why, and How.”
