Bill Introduced to Repeal Federal Laws That Ruined Gas Cans

I don’t think any of our writers have riled on this issue more than Skip. The ruination of the iconic gas can via federal interference and regulation. An icon of government interference for the everyman. A bureaucratic assault on simplicity that drove up the price while making it nearly impossible to use one.

Talk about a mental health issue.

Much like low-flush toilets that you have to trigger twice before your delivery can be completed, the contraption passing for a spout on a modern American gas can gets removed, negating whatever Rube-Goldbergian fix the feds had concocted to address some non-problem.

Two days ago I reported on a move by the Trump administration to get the government out from between you and your appliances. “I am hereby instructing Secretary Lee Zeldin to immediately go back to my Environmental Orders, which were terminated by Crooked Joe Biden, on Water Standards and Flow pertaining to SINKS, SHOWERS, TOILETS, WASHING MACHINES, DISHWASHERS, etc., and to likewise go back to the common sense standards on LIGHTBULBS, that were put in place by the Trump Administration, but terminated by Crooked Joe.” In the same article, I said.

While you’re at it, is there an EO somewhere that I missed, or in the works, to undo the regulator damage to “gas cans”? Those funky, new-fangled flow nozzle things are a major detriment to the average American’s mental wellness.

Little did I know that just a few days prior tp publication…

WASHINGTON —  Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) introduced The Gas Can Freedom Act today. This legislation is aimed at eliminating the federal regulations implemented under the Obama administration that ruined gas cans.

Congressman Roy said: “Pointless government regulations have ruined many common sense products, and everyone knows it. The federal government does not need to be involved in every aspect of our lives, and we never needed them involved in our gas cans. The Gas Can Freedom Act will eliminate the unnecessary federal regulations that have made gas cans dysfunctional and allow Americans to return to simple gas cans that actually work. It is long past time to make gas cans functional again.”

MAGCGA – Rep Roy wants to Make American Gas Cans Great Again, and I applaud this effort. I can’t say whether such no-nonsense deregulation will appeal to a majority of members of Congress, but you are guaranteed to miss 100% of the shots you never take.

As for me, I have at least “a few” gallons of fuel on hand for emergencies – fuel for generators if the power goes out mid-winter or the world ends. I use these (they were cheaper when I bought them) but be warned. Those little flow restrictor things have been known to break if met with enough ‘incidental’ force. Or you can just unscrew them because there is this other invention the Feds haven’t found a way to f**k with called a funnel. These wonder twins, when combined, are capable of great advances in side-stepping meddling feds.

Please note that I would never instruct you to deliberately bypass any safety mechanism required by law. I am only advising you on potential workarounds in the event of a mandated device failure or in the case of an emergency.
