The party that prosecutes its political opponents has invested some small amount of “sound and fury,” suggesting that Donald Trump might return the favor in kind without admitting they’d been doing it all along. That the Donald had it out for his political enemies and that they would be rounded up and jailed (like Americans who were near the US Capitol on January 6th, perhaps).
Or maybe they meant that someone in the FBI or DOJ would make public some dossier or scandal that was actually little more than anti-Trump fan fiction doing business as Clinton campaign opposition research. Make it public and then pretend they didn’t know what it was so the media could spin up the electorate and expensive illegal investigations based on illegal activity by the blob (spying on a political campaign, lying to the FISA court, you know the drill).
There is more to this than we have time or space for, so I’m going to share one more because it is by far the most reasonable example of how the alleged retribution might proceed. Forty-two of the fifty-one ‘intelligence experts’ who lied about the Hunter Biden laptop were CIA contractors with top-secret clearances. Per the FBI, they knew the Hunter Biden Laptop was genuine and not Russian disinformation. They interfered with an election, and any affirmation of the legitimacy of their claims was public perjury.
You can’t leave them muddling about professionally unmolested. Nor can you countenance the many blatant violations of the law undertaken by the Obama, Clintons, and Bidens (and their lackeys) over any number of years and not just based on their illegal activity to undermine or smear Donald Trump. They should all lose their security clearance on day one. Some number of them should be investigated based on actual existing law for alleged crimes.
The staffers and bureaucrats who aided and abetted any of it can easily be dismissed unless they’d like to be formally charged, as much as possible in the open so the people can hear the accusations and understand the reasoning. Those contractors, assuming they’ve not disappeared or moved to Canada, should be fired and their clearances revoked. Larger fish, where possible, should be named, their actions identified, and where there is a clear case of illegality, charged, not because they are Trump’s enemies but because they broke the law and represented a threat of continued misbehavior.
Retribution and resentment have no place, but should they happen to align with actual illegality, have at it, and this is likely what the Left means. As Hillary reportedly said, if she goes down, she’s taking everyone with her. Hillary isn’t going down, nor is Bill, Barry, or Joe, not at the hands of Trump. Unlike the Democrats, I don’t think Trump would sic his DOJ on the big players, but he might allow public information damaging to them and let the cards fall where they may.
There are also many who are not Hillary willing to rat out some bad actors to avoid paying for any behavior that was not above board. Maybe a lot of them. Perhaps, with Elon, Vivek, and the rest, they flush out a significant amount of dead weight—and partisan political appointees—without which the big players can’t play.
Cleaning up the swamp, even just a bit, makes America less expensive to run but it also removes barriers so many insiders hide behind to avoid responsibility or culpability.
In other words, Trump’s political enemies, and yours, are as much bureaucrats and government bloat without which it is that much harder to screw you. The 51 “intellegence experts, and quite a few others whose excision from the organ of the State isn’t “rounding up” or imprisoning, but it will be overblown by machine-media rhetoric. Kids in cages. Separating families. Russian collusion. They’ll make it look as bad as they can, but in the end, it will be little more than handing people a pink slip, in some cases a severance, and a pat on the back – and a good luck in the private secotre and don’t come back.
To the drama queens on the Left, they might as well be lining them up for a firing squad.
