What Happens to Good Teachers? They Get Fired

by
Ann Marie Banfield

As a parental rights advocate focused on education, I hear many parents say, “Why don’t teachers speak out more?” I tell them, it’s because if they do, they will be punished one way or another.

That’s exactly what happened to Martia Holloway. She explained in one of her online videos that the district administrators were not happy that she was sharing with the world, the problems she’s encountered in the public schools. How dare she expose the truth to everyone across America! She needs to shut up, and hide this information from the public. Then she will be considered a good teacher, and can keep her job.

Ms. Holloway has a big following now, including many teachers from all over the country. They are excited and grateful that Holloway is speaking up on their behalf. I’m not a teacher, but I appreciate her honesty too. There are lousy teachers that she addresses in her videos along with lousy parents. Good, they all need to do better.

Even though I support parental rights, there is no right to neglect or fail to teach your children proper social skills. Teachers have to deal with these kids now that administrators have abandoned that role.

Good luck trying to teach math and science when kids figure out that they can get away with bad behavior because the administrators now treat it like a mental condition. It’s as if they’ve never been around children who will push boundaries.

Ms. Holloway, as she calls herself on social media, exposes the practices forced upon teachers in the classroom. You probably don’t know any of this because teachers have been silenced. The administration will not look good if you find out what’s really going on in those schools.

Ms Holloway’s students appreciate that she actually teaches them the academic content. You might be surprised that many teacher have become “facilitators” vs “instructors.” Kids are left to discover math and science now, or they sit in front of a computer screen. Kids work in groups where normally one kid ends up trying to teach the others. Teachers do what they are told even though we know that teacher centered instruction is better for students.

Ms. Holloway shares that critical information with her followers. She basically does what I do which is, expose the many problems in public education. Like Ms. Holloway, I say, how do you fix the problems if you don’t know what they are? I don’t teach so I don’t get punished but boy do the school administrators hate it when I expose what they are doing.

If you are on facebook or Instagram, make sure you follow her @talkintia. You may not agree with everything she says, but she’s going to tell you what no one else will tell you.

Since she had the courage to speak up when so many will not or cannot, her followers have been pitching in to help her out. We need more teachers like this. Consider a donation here. Thank you.
