Once Again, Mayor Donchess Puts Nashua Taxpayers on the Hook

Is mayor Jim Donchess trying to pull a fast one on the Nashua taxpayers again?  At last night’s Board of Aldermen meeting, they suspended the rules to bring up a new resolution that was not on the agenda; therefore the “paperwork” was not enclosed.

The resolution is Authorizing the Developer into an agreement with “Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) for Bronstein Redevelopment with the City of Nashua.

The Fiscal Note of the Resolution states:

As part of this agreement, the City will waive up to $285,000 in fees, expense up to $55,000 on the Myrtle St. improvements, make $700,000 in HOME funds available and has agreed to PILOT payments.  The City will be receiving on average 50% of property taxes over the period of 15 years which is a concession of approximately $3.7 million dollars.

Of course, our Board of Aldermen passed this resolution on to the committee, which is a sure bet that it will come back to the Board of Aldermen for final approval.

So, in other words, the Nashua taxpayers are losing more money again.  Remember, it is the Nashua taxpayers that will have to make up the difference.

Nashua taxpayers need to remind the Mayor that he cannot blame the State of New Hampshire on this one.
