Local Man Who Lobbied for Access to Female Spaces Pleads Guilty to Child Sex Abuse

Massachusetts Question #3 was a 2018 ballot referendum to repeal the Massachusetts law which allows men who claim to be women to use women’s public restrooms and locker rooms. Voting “Yes” was in support of keeping the law.

In November 2018, a Lawrence Mass. man, who identifies as female and uses the name Dakota, tweeted:

I am human just like you. I deserve the same rights as you do. I am transgender. Not a criminal. I shouldn’t be stripped of my rights, vote yes on #3 this Tuesday! I will not be erased! #wewontbeerased #transpeoplearerealpeople

The repeal ultimately failed and men continue to have access to women’s spaces in Massachusetts.

In August 2019, the authorities charged that Jakob Nieves (who also goes by the name Dakota), “did knowingly employ, use, persuade, induce, entice and coerce” a four-year-old girl “to engage in … sexually explicit conduct” with him “for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of such conduct.”

On August 27, 2020, Jakob Nieves pled guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation of children, one count of distribution of child pornography, and one count of possession of child pornography. The Lawrence Eagle-Tribune headline was “Woman faces decades in jail for child exploitation”:

When law enforcement executed a search warrant at Nieves’ home Aug. 14, 2019, she admitted to distributing images and videos of child pornography to a user Nieves “met” in a Kik group geared toward individuals interested in pedophilia.

Forensic analysis of Nieves’ cell phone revealed pornographic images and videos of two children known to Nieves, both of whom were under the age of 4, as well as thousands of child pornography images depicting victims personally unknown to Nieves.

When HB1319, New Hampshire’s “Bathroom Bill” was passed by NH’s legislature and signed into law by Gov. Chris Sununu, it was insisted over and over that men who identify as women were perfectly safe to have in spaces where women and children are vulnerable.

Will the women of New Hampshire ever get an apology for the passage of this horrible law when stories like this come to light?
