Rally for Jerry – Skip Murphy of GraniteGrok

“How did we get into this mess?” I haven’t gotten out much this last year and a half and to be sure it was fun yesterday (don’t worry, Jeff, I took real good care of your equipment!) especially seeing faces I hadn’t seen in a long time.  It was also satisfying to see all of … Read more

“Who wouldn’t want to be a Progressive?”

If you really think hard about Classical Western Liberalism, have an affinity for Liberty / Freedom in the everyday choices of your life, and hate the idea that government should make all the “hard” decisions and decide what your behavior should be, you’re not a progressive. This guy used to be – and then thought … Read more

“NOW You’re Worried About Executive Power? “

Recently, many left-leaning people have become (randomly) concerned about reigning in executive power, a mass event not seen since the beginning years of the Bush presidency. This concern manifests itself in suddenly questioning the ability of the president to unilaterally order military action, including drone strikes, air strikes, special forces, etc. It also comes across as questioning whether just maybe executive actions aren’t the best way to govern with impunity, or that lists like the No-Fly List and programs like the NSA’s PRISM could potentially be bad when leaders who aren’t Barack Obama are President.

Frankly, NO President should have this much power.  It is the stupidity of Congress that has voluntarily given up much of its power (and the inability to use its greatest power, the Power of the Purse) to the Executive Branch that has made the President almost untouchable as we saw the last eight years and saw the weaponization of the Administrative / Deep State lay down rubber in heading towards that Progressive end line of the technocratic State.

Palate Cleanser: who doesn’t like a big BANG to end the week?

“What happens when a 200-ton boulder slides onto the road, completely blocking traffic? Well, absent Paul Bunyan, you have to blow that up, just to show Nature who’s boss. Which is precisely what the Oregon Department of Transportation did yesterday near the small town of Glide. The Oregonian posted video footage of the explosion on … Read more

Democrats set the expectations – but Republicans were defending it?

You know that old political saw: once given an entitlement, it’s almost impossible to take it back.  In this case, Obamacare and its real payload, Expanded Medicaid.  We’d expect Democrats to defend it – it is THE way to continue to have Government insert itself more and more into the healthcare space.  Presto – universal socialized medicine by incremental stealth.

And the Democrats baked this cake:

What floors me is the vigor with which some Republicans,

So why does Government hate on small business?

“Small businesses employ over 57 million Americans. And yet, the government’s taxes and regulations overwhelmingly favor big businesses at the expense of small ones. Why? Find out in this short video.” Hint: go ask your Democrat Federal office holder why – watch them bend like a pretzal. (H/T: Liberty Unyielding)

When right and wrong are ephemeral and only depends on the moment…

“If there is no God, urder isn’t wrong”

Is murder wrong? How do you know? In this video (below), Dennis Prager shows why, unless there is a God who says murder is wrong, believing murder is immoral is, well, just an opinion.

And what happens when entire societies stop believing in God? As Dennis explains, the 20th century provides some tragic answers.

Those societies that have “thrown of” God and religion – how have they fared?  Those that have made The State their religion, their God?  Not so much.  We see that now in the US where being a Christian, whose values are absolute (or supposed to be, anyways), instead of the relativism that Progressives, Socialist, and Cultural Marxists peddle, know what right and wrong are even if they do not practice what they profess.
