OK, in one of those prove-me-wrong moments, I speculate that Google was actually ALWAYS an information-gathering tool for the TLAs, and that it turned out profitable was a pleasant surprise for them. Same with FB and others.
The longer I observe, the more I am coming to believe that one cannot get elected to anything “serious” without varied powerful interest shadow groups having some form of kompromat over you.
Understand that, OOH, it’s barbaric. OTOH, when violence is the currency of the profession, violence in return can be a very powerful tool. Who here remembers this:
