There have been several talented politicians who are adept at messing with the media, and I’m not taking anything away from them, but I love this guy. Pierre Poilievre.
His polite indifference. The nonchalance with which he unwinds the press-pundit narratives, taking the opportunity they hand him to point out where misinformation originates. He’s brilliant with the press.
Who is he? Poilievre is a seven-term member of the Canadian Parliament, the opposition party leader, and is running to replace Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister of Canada.
Pierre became Leader of His Majesty’s Official Opposition in September 2022, and is running to be the Prime Minister of Canada. He believes in a country where the state is servant, not master. Where smaller government makes room for bigger citizens. Where people have the freedom to build a business without red tape and heavy tax.
To make room for personal freedom and responsibility, he believes in limiting government. He has been one of the loudest voices in the past several years fighting out-of-control deficit spending and tax increases, as Liberal addiction to debt became a crisis.
Grokster Rick Olson pointed him out to me over the weekend, beginning with the apparently infamous Apple video. Poilievre is at an apple farm eating an apple, and a reporter tries to ask him a question (2 min clip). This is brilliant, and the talking head Lat Debate folks (second half of the video) agree. He does not let himself be pushed around by journalists.
The Conservatives currently enjoy a 12-point polling lead over Truduea’s Liberals.
