Chairman Ager,
You notably stated at your acceptance speech upon being elected the NH GOP RNC Committeeman that “GraniteGrok will hold me accountable”. Now as NH GOP Chair, those words are even more important. And yes, we are holding you accountable to uphold the Party strictures on Republicans that have decided to disregard this specific ByLaw (emphasis mine):
Any registered Republican who, at the same time joins or allows his or her name to be used in support of a political committee or a defined group of individuals, that in title or effect is intended to be understood by the public to be a committee or group comprised in whole or in part of members of the Republican Party endorsing a candidate for elected office from another political party, when there is a candidate nominated by the Republican Party for that office, shall be disqualified during the then present and the next biennium from holding an office of the State Committee or any County or City Committee, from being a member of the Executive Committee and from being a member of the State Committee.
We expect swift action with respect to this ByLaw as Thad Riley has endorsed a Democrat in a race where there is a Republican also running. He is currently the NH GOP Assistant Secretary
It was rather surprising to see him standing with Eric Turer, current NH State Rep and prior Brentwood Democrat Committee Chair (who is WELL known to the ‘Grok) in endorsing that Democrat by the name of Paul Kleinman for Select Board:
Seems quite pleased with himself in doing so.
Please consider the following document that was sent to us. Those items marked as Thad are from his Facebook page. The “Jims” are Jim Johnson and Jim Berlo, conservative activists in Barrington Brentwood.
Brentwood resident Thad Riley is currently the New Hampshire Republican Party as Assistant Secretary. He has chosen to endorse a democrat friend over a proven conservative Republican for a crucial Select Board seat. We present Thad’s Facebook post with comments below. Emphasis mine:
Thad:
“Hi friends,
I want to share with you all that myself and Eric Turer, our Democratic State Rep, have together endorsed our mutual friend Paul Kleinman for Select Board here in Brentwood. I don’t think Eric and I can disagree more politically, so when we agree, we want to share this with you.”
Sidenote: I am told that a copy of the Barrington Brentwood checklist will be sent to me showing that Mr. Kleinman is, indeed, a registered Democrat.
Jims:
Can’t say we are surprised. Thad Reily, former head of the Brentwood GOP, failed NH Governor candidate, and current Assistant Secretary for the New Hampshire Republican Party has forsaken support for the only loyal Brentwood conservative Selectboard candidate Melissa Litchfield for Thad’s personal Democrat friend. This is the ultimate betrayal to all Republicans in Brentwood and the state of New Hampshire.
Thad:
“First, for context, there are 3 candidates vying for 2 positions, so that’s good for everyone to know. So my endorsement isn’t necessarily me standing against another candidate.”
Jims:
Context? There is only one perspective before the Brentwood Republican Party, electing the lone conservative voice to the Board of Selectmen. It is of paramount concern that Thad Reily has chosen to use his elected position in the NH Republican party to sabotage the Brentwood Republican candidate. NH Republicans are you paying attention? The laughter from the Left is at you, not with you. Thad. No joke!
Thad:
“Second, I’ve been friends with the Kleinman family for several years, and greatly appreciate them as great neighbors and humans. Character and the way you treat others matter, and this is a fantastic reason to vote for my friend.”
Jims:
Since you mention character, Thad, what do you think selling out the New Hampshire Republicans does for your character? You are a pariah of your own making, an outcast that cannot be trusted.
Thad:
”Third, my friend Paul has a very diverse voting record, and I respect his love for our country and the votes he has cast. Sometimes we agreed and other times we absolutely did not, but what matters here is that I know without a shadow of a doubt that Paul will always choose what he believes is best for Brentwood, and won’t be bound by party or politics. Boy, do we need to be electing folks who will just choose to do the right thing!”
Jims:.
None of what you have offered provides any insight into the ‘diverse’ political leanings of your friend but that’s not the issue. Your treachery toward the Republican party is the issue here.
Thad:
“Finally, no one else has asked for or spoken with me about an endorsement or asked me to be part of their campaign. I’m always open and willing and have contacted multiple candidates to sit down with me for our town elections. I’m not afraid to engage in real conversations, so I’m not going to blindly endorse anyone. As you know, our America, New Hampshire, and Brentwood will be facing serious issues in the next few years, so I don’t take it lightly one bit who I endorse. This is serious stuff to me!”
Jims:
Candidates are to come and kneel for an endorsement? That smells of narcissistic excrement. Thad, apparently you just don’t get it. You fail to comprehend your role as a NH GOP leadership member. It is the GOP you should be endorsing, not forming pacts with treacherous democrats. The fact that no candidate has reached out might be a sign of disbelief.
Thad:
“If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me. I’m always willing to listen. Please vote for my friend Paul for SelectBaord and know you’ve made the right choice.”
Jims:
Brentwood: Vote for Melissa Litchfield, a true conservative.
Jim Berlo & Jim Johnson
The “Jims” are right – it’s about the strictures placed upon Riley as an elected member of the NH GOP Executive Board.
We interviewed Thad Riley for almost two hours during his “GrokGauntlet” during his run for Government. While talking a good game that many accepted, we found a severe lack concerning the office of the Governor and its duties. In it, he showed large gaps in his homework (or lack thereof).
He has repeated that lack of proper homework once again as he blithely has ignored / passed it over the ByLaw that should be holding his behavior in check. Failing to read it and abide by it should be “for cause” dismissal from his position.
And, I bet, the reason why Eric Turer is smiling and looking so jocular that is that Thad ignored Star Wars’ Admiral Ackbar admonishment:
It’s a trap!
And Riley gleefully ran to it instead of away from it.
