There is a post up with NHGOP Committeeman Chris Ager’s thoughts about the 2022 election. A quick response. First, stop sugarcoating it.
New Hampshire has neither ballot-harvesting (mail-in voting) nor early-voting … yet candidates for federal office did far worse than GOP candidates in States that have one or both of these mechanisms. And there is only the illusion of GOP control in the New Hampshire House because of all the RINOs. And the leader of the GOP in the State Senate would in any real swing state be considered a Democrat.
Second, ask yourself why Sun-King Sununu performed as well as the Democrats and yet had no coattails. I already covered this in prior posts such as my post-mortem on the election. But to save you some time … it’s largely a combination of (1) he is perceived … correctly … by Democrat voters as with them on most issues, so they vote for him and then “come home” on down-ballot races an (2) he is a lazy campaigner and indifferent to any race but his own.
Third, maybe just save some time and admit what is obvious … that New Hampshire is and has been for some time a BLUE state … and rebuild from the ground-up. That is, shift the focus to winning school board and other local races and develop a cadre of candidates who can then run for higher office.
