Rep. Gregg Hough Appointed to Assistant Majority Whip
Concord, NH- House Majority Leader Jason Osborne today appointed Rep. Gregg Hough (R-Laconia) to the Majority Leadership team as Assistant Majority Whip.
“Rep. Hough has consistently volunteered to do extra work that is usually unpopular with members, whether it is filling in on committees, collecting information we need, or stepping in to assist with the whipping process when we need extra hands on deck. Whether it was coming to session the day his own house burned down, or stepping up for the people of Belknap county to lead the fight to reopen Gunstock, his dedication to his constituents and the state is unmatched. I am looking forward to having Rep. Hough on the team and I greatly value his input.”

First, a couple of other words…

No, not a great night for Conservative Republicans here in Belknap county that hew to the Rule of Law and to our Constitutions. The monied people that see the Gunstock Area Mountain as their private domain (under the guise of a “public-private partnership” where the “public” will enrich “the private” – mark my words) and toy executed on their scorched earth political policy very well indeed.  They stopped the hard and penetrating questions of what was going on at the Gunstock Area Mountain by newer Gunstock Area Commissioners,  created divisiveness amongst them, roiled the factions in the Belknap Delegation, and with PR campaigns at each level, turned the public sentiment against those that were looking for answers.

So, do I think new Delegation Chair, Harry Bean, who came in first in Gilford’s NH Rep Races is going to restart that process?  Hardly – he’s protecting something else and doesn’t want to blow that up by monkeying around with those claiming to be close to Sununu. Nor will GAC Commissioners Doug Lambert (of DGF Industrial) and Jade Wood (NH GOP Area 5 Vice-Chair) who stopped both the Legal and Audit sub-committees looking into those rumors. Or, what could be the make up of the Delegation after the General Election in November do after being seated?

That was the plan – overlapping bulwarks to prevent the inquisitive finding out things.

Oh, speaking of “close with Sununu” – there is one person, who had extremely elevated political ambitions that WON’T be seated, and I am happy to announce that the promise I made, I have kept: Gregg Hough will not be down to the NH House breakfast in January (riffing off Howie Carr’s “dead pool” segment’s “Guess who won’t be down for breakfast in the morning?”):

Odd man out in a four seat District

Now, WMUR is reporting only 67% of the vote is in but folks have told me that it’s all over. And now, it’s all over for Gregg Hough (see above). It doesn’t work to be that fifth man in a four man race.  And yes, I had promised that I would do everything I could to make him lose.  It’s not like I have to create blowout against someone – for years, I’ve said “you have to win 50% + 1 to win, I only have to change the minds of 0.1 to 0.5% of people in a district.  I would like to think that I had a small part in his 2.36% losing margin:

  • You don’t lie to me, as my new Representative (due to redistricting) about that illegal Delegation on August first meeting that you promised you’d not participate in.
  • You don’t lie to me about helping to structure that illegal meeting and participating
  • It was amusing, however, to see you locked out of what you dearly wanted – to be the Vice-Chair of the Belknap Delegation (thanks for being the “useful idiot” for Tim Lang and the Citizens of Belknap who all kicked you to the curb).
  • Having done that, I promised I’d work against my new elected representative that won’t respect the Law
  • How can I trust someone that is supposed to MAKE the Laws WE have to follow but won’t follow it himself?
  • Then you tried to pick a fight with GraniteGrok/me and destroy the trust that the Belknap County Republican Committee has in GraniteGrok in honest reporting of its meetings and speakers.  That hearing didn’t go well for you, did it? And yes, still waiting for the final dispensation from the Executive Committee on that (but you know, elections and all).

So, I wrote about him. A lot. And pointed out stuff (especially in my LONG rebuttal to his complaint to the BCRC – baseless and without any supporting evidence) that he wasn’t trustworthy – he repeatedly lied about me and GraniteGrok in it and even after challenging him to provide proof, he didn’t.

It, just like most of the “Gunstock Incident”, was a mere political put-up.

And now he’s out in the bitter cold. Lost in the primary so he’s lost his seat as of January, no hope to win if he even THINKS about doing a write-in campaign, and that “Leadership” position just went up in smoke.

Along with his current political ambitions.  Man out of season, man out in the political cold. Not only that but by losing his primary, he’s not an automatic NH GOP Delegate, either. He’s in Siberia.

Schadenfreude. Sometimes, even when everything else is not going well in politics, one has to look for a wee bit of light within the rubble. Except his “misfortunate” was completely manmade by himself.

Oh, there’s one other guy I need to talk about…
