Thoughts on Responding to Democrat Lies

by

The ability of Democrats to spew propaganda and get people to believe it amazes me. We need to be prepared to counter the brainwashing of rational people (the rest aren’t educable). The focus of Democrats’ lies changes over time.

Now they include abortion, Second Amendment and gun control, and Trump.  Below are my thoughts on things people need to know about these and, in general, how to discuss our solutions.  I’m sure others can provide useful additional thoughts and information.

Abortion.  Democrat lies about the recent Supreme Court decision in the Dobb’s case are inflammatory and endless.

  1. The Supreme Court did NOT outlaw abortions. People will be able to get treatment for ectopic pregnancies and other medical emergencies.
  2. The availability of abortions in New Hampshire is unaffected. The NY Times estimated that only 13% of current nationwide abortions would be affected (and people can get those abortions in other states).
  3. The Supreme Court said the Constitution doesn’t address abortion, therefore it should be democratically decided by the people of the states. (I thought Democrats wanted to protect our Democracy, so why do they oppose democratically made laws regarding abortion?)
  4. When abortion supporters talk about how the Supreme Court’s decision ignored “precedent” and “stare decisis” (the idea that the court should give weight to previous Supreme Court decisions) remind them that Roe v. Wade changed nearly 200 years of precedent.
  5. NH allows abortions up to 24 weeks for whatever reason; after that only to save the life of the mother or unless fatal fetal diagnosis. See the NH  Fetal Life Protection Act (here’s where I found it):
    https://www.girardatlarge.com/blog/2021/06/25/actual-language-of-the-nh-fetal-protection-act-as-adopted-in-hb-2/
  6. Democrats talk about a nationwide law affirming “Roe” but they are promoting a far more radical abortion law that is so radical that only a few nations, including China and North Korea, world-wide have similar laws. (See:  Democrats’ Abortion Extremism Puts Them Outside The Mainstream – AMAC – The Association of Mature American Citizens)
  7. The Democrat proposed law:
      1. Allows even abortions, the crushing or puncturing of babies’ skulls, as healthy, full-term babies are being born.
      2. Outlaws state laws requiring parental notification before abortions on minors. Rapists would be able to get abortions for their under-age rape victims without parental knowledge, hiding their crimes.
      3. Outlaws requirements to ensure safe medical abortions.
  8. IMHO the real attitude of leading Democrat politicians towards human life was revealed by Virginia Governor Northam who signed an extreme abortion bill (Ralph Northam Signs Extreme Abortion Legislation on Good Friday: Speak Out – YouTube) and who talked about handling a survivor of a botched abortion (VA Gov Ralph Northam Discusses Third Trimester Abortion Bill – YouTube).

Pro-Life and Pro-Choice. IMHO these terms imply way too much and may result in rejection when there is common ground…if you seek it.  Rather than say I am “pro-life” in response to a question, I suggest you discuss the NH Fetal Life Protection Act or ask a question back such as:  “I don’t support killing healthy, full-term babies as they are being delivered, do you?”  Or, “I don’t think the rapist of an underage girl should be able to get her an abortion without the parents knowing, do you?”  Many pro-choice people don’t support these.

Second Amendment / Gun Control.

    1. In most areas of human endeavor, we look at what gets the desired results and copy them. Only as it relates to the Second Amendment and gun control are we bombarded with the demand that the laws in states with low crime and murder rates be abandoned and replaced with the laws of states and cities with high crime and murder rates.  Illinois murder rate is about 8 times greater than ours in New Hampshire, yet Democrats demand that we adopt Illinois gun laws.  It kind of makes you wonder what results Democrats want, less or more crimes and murders?
    2. It’s obvious that Democrats only want to take guns from law-abiding people. Democrats demonstrate their fondness for criminals, and lack of care for innocent law-abiding Americans, by their actions:  refusal to prosecute criminals including those committing gun crimes, letting violent criminals plea to lesser crimes, letting convicted criminals out of prison early, releasing people charged with violent crimes without bail, providing sanctuary for illegal aliens, and following an open borders policy which allows illegal alien criminals and possible terrorists into our country.
    3. There are many examples of a good civilian with a gun saving lives.  There are too many examples of police not acting quickly even to save the lives of school children to depend on police to save our lives.  And, Democrats keep making life increasingly dangerous.

Trump

  1. Democrats fear Trump not only because he can win but because he really is what they fake being: pro-American, pro-American worker, pro-freedom, pro-government transparency, anti-special interest, anti-big government. Democrats are desperate to keep Trump from being re-elected.  They lie and keep repeating even disproven lies.  Even if you don’t like Trump, be prepared to comment to show the difference between Democrats in charge and Trump/Republicans in charge.  I’m not happy with some of Trump’s pettiness and some of this tweets, but I’d be very happy to live with those for:
      1. Affordable food, gas, and ability to cool and heat my home.
      2. A growing economy providing more and better jobs and higher wages for everyone including the next generation.
      3. Low inflation and a comparatively low cost of living.
      4. Tax cuts.
      5. Comparatively low number of illegal drug overdose deaths.
      6. A world growing more peaceful, with four new Middle-East peace treaties. Biden has now re-funded the Palestinians and their program of providing pensions for the families of suicide bombers who kill Jews.
      7. Keeping our adversaries/enemies in check with low energy prices, sanctions, and demonstrated strength.
      8. Continuing efforts to move essential manufacturing, e.g., prescription drugs and military materials, back to the US from hostile nations. (Covid highlighted our vulnerability.)
  2. Is Trump too tough, too abrasive? Frank Purdue said:  “It takes a tough man to produce a tender chicken.”
    1. Many NATO and trade partners have benefitted from treaties and mind-sets that go back to WWII when these other nations had devastated economies. Because of this we often gave these countries benefits at the expense of American workers, consumers, taxpayers, and the American economy.
    2. After up to 70 years of getting preferential treatment, countries wouldn’t willingly give up their special benefits that are no longer justified.
    3.  Only Trump cared enough about the American people to take the, often attacked, tough stands needed to negotiate fair deals for American workers, consumers, taxpayers, and for our national security.
  3. Trump brings something unique to the American Presidency, strength, love of America, and commitment to win. See:  https://tomklingenstein.com/

Republicans need to talk to others as if we were Salesmen; we must talk about the value to people of the actions we plan to take. Republicans (IMHO) often suffer from a “development mindset”; we see problems and talk about solutions.  Voters and most people we talk to only want to know about how they and others benefit from what we are trying to do.  So, we need to talk to others as salesmen, describing the value to others, of what we about the value to others that we are doing.

    1. Business Taxes and Regulation Cuts (My pet peeve.)
      1. I cringe when Republicans talk about business tax and regulation cuts. This opens us up to the charge of only caring about business owners and letting them pollute our air and water…we’ve probably all seen this.
      2. We need to talk about what we are trying to deliver: a growing economy, more jobs, better and higher paying jobs; we are trying to ensure that our children and grandchildren can stay and prosper in New Hampshire if they wish.
      3. Most Republicans would fight for higher taxes and regulations if that provided (which they don’t) a growing economy, more and better jobs, higher wages, more freedom, etc.
