Strang to Remain on Gunstock Area Commission
Cites need for three Commissioners to End Resort Shutdown
Gilford NH – After several days of internal turmoil that led to the resignation of a pair of Gunstock Area Commissioners, David Strang MD, has decided to remain on the GAC emphasizing that another departure from the Commission would leave it unable to function as a governing body.
“We need a quorum and the stakes are high and time is running out. I understand members of the commission and senior management have differences of opinions on important matters. I believe those can, and will, be addressed.” Said Strang. “Right now, I believe the remaining commission members and critical members of senior management must collectively stand on the common ground that Gunstock must reopen as soon as possible.”
Strang says he supports the immediate return of Gunstock General Manager Tom Day and Facility Operations Director Patrick McGonagle. Both resigned their respective positions last week after differences with Commission members were not resolved.
Strang says their return is critical to resuming normal operations at Gunstock ahead of the SoulFest Music Festival scheduled to begin next week.
“Our employees, their families, and the entire region are counting on us to come together and figure out a way to make this work. I am confident we can do that and my hand is extended for the greater good of our cherished resort. If we fail to bridge this divide, I fear the negative impact will be significant, and we can’t let that happen. We have to get back to work.”
