So, NH State Rep Brodie Deshaies (R-Wolfboro)? Why Aren’t You Telling the Entire Truth during Your Re-Election Stumping?

by Skip

Presenting yourself as something you’re not isn’t exactly being transparent, or so it seems to me.  There do seem to be a bunch of Republican-sponsored or favored bills.  I think that the word “schoolie” (one who supports Government schools only because they support Government monopolies) applies in your case.

It would be “interesting” to see how you would attempt to “explain away” these votes? As the reader who sent these votes in labeled him “Bad” Brodie:

*Brodie Opposed prohibiting the use of taxpayer funds to pay lobbyists (2022 HB1033)

In other words, stop the practice of towns and school boards sending our tax monies to the school board association that then lobbys against parents.

*Brodie Opposed requiring a civics competency assessment as a high school graduation requirement (2021 HB320) (one of only 6 Republicans opposed)

It’s clear that Government schools are doing a rather horrible job in teaching civics – one only has to see how people are reacting to the recent SCOTUS decisions and the absolutely nutty reasons they give for their outrage. It’s clear that too many believe that SCOTUS is “supposed to listen to the People” as if it was a Super-Legislature OR that parsing the actual words of the US Constitution against a given case is immaterial.

More things about Brodie. He,

Opposed requiring NH university and community college system students to pass the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services civics naturalization test (2021 HB319)

If we expect immigrants to know our history and philosophy, why not the students that our tax dollars are funding?

Opposed allowing public schools to get waivers from rules in order to innovate (2021 HB609)

(one of 7 Republicans supporting opposed)

Stodgy reasoning here (did you see what I did there?)

Opposed prohibiting courts from allowing school emergency special meetings if it involves a collective bargaining agreement already voted down by the voters (2021 HB71)

So, he prefers teachers’ unions (who I think are the ones agitating for such an action – Croydon excepted) over the Parents that have to pay for their now lowered living standards?

Opposed criminal penalties for denying an elected school district official access to school facilities (2022 HB1072) (one of 16 Republicans opposed)

There are numerous cases of School Board members that have been slapped with no-trespass orders SIMPLY because they are demanding accountability in many areas.  Doing that is a great way to Cancel or Silence these folks to keep things covered up.

Opposed giving public charter schools first right of refusal to leasing unused public school district facilities (2021 HB278)

This would seem to be a no-brainer.  Or is he wanting to help choke off the competition?

Opposed requiring only a vote of the school board and voters to approve the conversion of a public school to a public charter school (2022 HB1132)

What, no local control, Brodie?

*Opposed allowing school district budget caps (2022 HB1393) (one of 10 Republicans opposed)

If Parents/voters are arguing that School Boards (often captured “schoolies”) are spending too much, Trust has already been broken.  Why ARE you anti-Parent, Brodie?

Opposed revising meetings open to the public to just strategy sessions for collective bargaining agreements when only one negotiating party is present under right-to-know law (2021 HB206)

Whose money is about to be spent, Brodie, and why shouldn’t they be part of the process???

Opposed forgiveness of emergency order violations and fines (2022 HB63) (one of 18 Republicans supporting)

Sucking up, eh dude?

Opposed requiring 2/3 vote of House and Senate to takings of property in a declared emergency (2021 HB402)

I guess that taking someone’s private property isn’t a big deal for you, huh?

Opposed prohibiting the suspension of civil liberties during a state of emergency (2021 HB440)

The principal job of the Government is to PROTECT PEOPLES’ LIBERTIES. Have you not read the Declaration of Independence?  Rather plainly stated. But this again, “PUBLIC HEALTH TRUMPS EVERYTHING”!

*Opposed protection of religious liberty during a state of emergency (2021 HB542)

during a state of emergency, the state government shall permit a religious organization to continue operating and to engage in religious services to the same or greater extent that other organizations or businesses that provide essential services that are necessary and vital to the health and welfare of the public are permitted to operate.

I guess you’ve decided that Citizens of Faith are second, if not third, class citizens.  Nice, really nice.

“Schoolie”?  Or is it more “anti-Parent/anti-Citizen” (and never forget the power of AND)?
