Almost every High School, come graduation time, has a Senior Prank that is pulled. Sometimes successfully, sometimes not. But given what just happened in Uvalde, TX, where there was much consternation over an open door by a teacher (was it? was it not?) and those sworn to protect Society twiddling their thumbs outside as innocent little ones were slaughtered by a mentally deranged 18-year-old adult…and here is a Master Key involved.
…there is an allegation that a member of the Administration handed out a Master Key to allow the students into the High School after hours.
A few bad words were said when a couple of students got access to the intercom and they have been suspended – but shouldn’t the blame be on that Master Key holder administrator that enabled the behavior and not the kids? And even if they were bad words, if school isn’t in session, wouldn’t Free Speech be in force?
After all, review the Brandi Levy story. Admittedly, a bit different than this event but it is there.
But that ISN’T the story – it’s that Superintendent Steve Tucker is responsible for a staff member blithely handing out a Master Key to a bunch of minor aged kids (or mostly, maybe half – I was 17 when I graduated back when dinosaurs where the “new thing” around…).
And think of the possibility of a bad actor amidst the kids could have set in motion for the next day; who gets to be held responsible? Would that be the Principal Jim McCollumb?
Or should it be, under the Truman doctrine of “The Buck stops here”, Superintendent Steve Tucker (yet another black eye for this incompetent)?
What will the School Board do or will they continue to be mere bootlickers or finally turn into the over watchers and overseers that they should be? Developing story…
