Dartmouth (Not that One) Votes to Keep Indian Mascot

If you read the headline “Dartmouth votes to keep ‘Dartmouth Indian’ Mascot,” you might feel a brief sense of cultural vertigo. Dartmouth? Keeps Indian Mascot. Whahhht? Relax, it’s not that Dartmouth.

Dartmouth College in New Hampshire had an Indian and a pretendian. The actual Indian was depicted on a weathervane that had been atop a College library since 1928. The #wokesaurus got that pulled down ‘cuz racism.

The Pretendian was ethnomusicologist Susan Taffe Reed who created a non-profit called the Eastern Delaware Nations. This got her the lead role in running Dartmouth’s Native American Studies program, but her non-profit had nothing to do with previous populations in North America, nor did she. Taffe Reed was another fraud.

Dartmouth fell for her Liz Warren impersonation and then had to make a move when the truth leaked out. Taffe Reed was just another white broad capitalizing on the Ivy League cultural consciousness. They did not fire her for the pretending to be descended from anything but her own imagination. She actually got a better job.

So, you can bet that if there were an Indian left standing, Dartmouth would have disappeared. That’s what the left does. Erasing other cultures makes them feel better. So any headline, including Dartmouth and Keeping the Indian, could be unsettling  – to leftists.

Our story today is about Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

Clyde Andrews sat on his couch Wednesday night, showing off press clippings from his running back days at Dartmouth High School — almost 50 years ago. That’s when the Aquinnah Wampanoag tribe member helped craft a version of the Indian that still adorns the school’s helmets today.

“It pays homage to the Native Americans who walked this land many, many years ago,” Andrews says. “And we’re still here.”

On Tuesday, Dartmouth voters urged the school board to keep the Indian as the school mascot and logo by a three-to-one margin – following years of debate.

Dartmouth voted to keep the Indians.

And a quick note for all the #woke leftists in the Bay State poo-pooing the vote to keep that mascot. You’ve got bigger problems. Your entire state is named after an Indian tribe. “The Massachusett tribe lived in the area of the Massachusetts Bay, specifically between Salem and Brockton. Both the Massachusetts Bay colony and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts were named after the tribe.”

Given what your ‘ancestors’ did to them and then what you’ve done to the culture of individual liberty that succeeded it, you owe a lot more people than them an apology. But that will never come because you’re not done wrecking the new world yet.

Most of us were born here, so we’re native to America, but you are hell-bent on destroying our culture. But that’s what Democrats do. They destroy everything they touch.
