The schools are open, but homeschooling continues to surge
…Once they got the hang of doing homeschooling, a lot of parents decided to stick with it even after the public schools reopened.
The coronavirus pandemic ushered in what may be the most rapid rise in homeschooling the U.S. has ever seen. Two years later, even after schools reopened and vaccines became widely available, many parents have chosen to continue directing their children’s educations themselves.
Homeschooling numbers this year dipped from last year’s all-time high, but are still significantly above pre-pandemic levels, according to data obtained and analyzed by The Associated Press.
Families that may have turned to homeschooling as an alternative to hastily assembled remote learning plans have stuck with it — reasons include health concerns, disagreement with school policies and a desire to keep what has worked for their children.
Data from 18 states that share such figures shows that homeschooling surged by 63% in the 2020-2021 school year. This was expected because so many of the schools were shut down. But for the 2021-2022 year, it only dropped by 17%, so there are still a vastly larger number of families doing it…

…I would imagine that a much bigger factor is the realization by many parents that too many public schools simply don’t do a very good job, despite the endless amounts of money that state and local governments flush into them.
Doubt them? What are your District’s standardized test scores compared the cost of educating them. How many of your District’s students are below proficient? And of course, there’s the elephant in the room which is what are teachers HIDING from Parents – a real big reason to homeschool:
WATCH: School District Secretly Pushes Sexual Orientation to Eight-Year-Olds Behind Parents’ Backs
It seems that every few days another story emerges showing that progressives are lying when they claim sexuality and gender identity are not being taught to young children without their parents’ knowledge. This one, coming from a California school, further demonstrates why Florida’s Parental Rights in Education law is necessary. Parents of children in the Glendale Unified School District (GUSD) became incensed when they realized a third-grade teacher was colluding with district officials to instruct eight-year-old students on gender identity and sexuality. Video footage shows these parents castigating the school board at a meeting on April 19.
The parents filed a public records request, which turned up emails showing that the teacher was presenting videos on LGBTQ ideology to their children and making inappropriate comments about nudity. They identified the teacher as Tammy Tiber.
…“Instead of this teacher being concerned of what she did wrong, she goes to a district employee and asks for ways of how she can continue to teach sexual orientation to her third grade class. You guys want us to believe that this isn’t a propaganda, that no agenda is being held? This wasn’t just any sexuality class. This was specifically designed three days a week. She taught LGBTQ curriculum in her class.”
…“It raises the question, how many of those students are excelling in that classroom? Is everybody in that class getting A’s in math, English, grammar, social studies that we can dedicate three days a week to teach eight-year-olds about sexual orientation? I don’t care what kind of sex is being discussed. The word ‘sexuality,’ ‘nudity’ does not belong in the ears in a classroom of eight-year-old kids. And when a parent showed their concern, what does this teacher do? Completely disregards and goes behind the parents back trying to find ways of how to continue these lesson plans.”
Parents are impediments and are to be disdained and ignored. What else can you take away from this story and the almost other 200 snippets like this that I’ve put up? These aren’t random happenstances – these are planned, developed, and deliberately delivered without your knowledge. And then they turn around and gaslight YOU that YOU folks are the one causing the problem.
Union Head Randi Weingarten Says Parents Are Stoking the Flames of War
…However, Weingarten cloaks her activism in the language of “justice” and the outcome of her activism is to disadvantage students and parents. That is a combative stance, and yet Weingarten recently had the nerve to say that pushback in the form of parental rights legislation and discussion is how “wars start.”
“This notion – we’ve been very lucky in America, and we in some ways live in a bubble for a long time…this is propaganda. This is misinformation. This is the way in which wars start. This is the way in which hatred starts.”
To recap, Weingarten believes that teachers and their union representatives colluding with government to override parental authority and set local and federal health policies is just fine, but parents opposing that collusion are warmongers.
A GREAT example of how Teacher Unions see themselves – they are NOT to be dissed and their Power is NOT to be diminished. They will do whatever is necessary to keep that status quo in which they are ALWAYS in the Power position. And a lot of School Board members are so captured, they’re in on the deal as well:
K-12 IMPLOSION UPDATE: Orange County school board member harasses parent handing out info in carpool line.
A school board member on the Orange County Board of Education North Carolina was caught on video harassing parents who were handing out information cards about issues in the district to parents in a carpool line. Board member Hillary Mackenzie was videoed hurling insults at a parent for giving out cards to the website OCS Truth.
…Mackenzie also called out to parents driving by that what was being handed out was “propaganda” and called it “misinformation,” adding that parents should “call the school board if you have questions.” Mackenzie can be seen videoing the parent with her cell phone as the parent hands out the cards. While marching down the carpool line, Mackenzie yells out that “disinformation is fascism.”
Why is that that so many people have NO idea what a real fascist is?? Yet, they feel so entitled to throw out that slur even if they have no idea what the other person stands for?
Throughout the video, Mackenzie insults the parent, calling her a “fascist” and asking why the parent thinks being called that name is “insulting.” Later, the parent asks aloud why doing research for themselves and sharing information is a fascist act. Mackenzie didn’t answer.
And then they wonder why parents are throwing their arses off said Board? And they should do so for this as well – the policy that there can not be any high performing students because it would make the slower students feel bad?
K-12 IMPLOSION UPDATE: Patrick Henry High School cuts honors courses in the name of ‘equity.’
“The principal, Michelle Irwin, claims she made the decision in the name of ‘equity.’ Irwin also said cutting the honors courses would remove the stigma from non-honors classes and ‘eliminate racial disparities in honors enrollment.’ In an email thread obtained by KUSI News, Irwin told concerned parents the entire district has been embracing and promoting ‘inclusive environments.’”
Can’t the Left get its intellectual act together? On one hand, they decry that Right To Work is a “race to the bottom” for wages (BAD!). For schools like that have gone all in on Black Lives Matter, it’s a “race to the bottom” academically (GOOD).
Equity – translation is “lowest common denominator”. No one can be better than anyone else.
