Gunstock Mountain Resort – Gac Meeting (3/23/22) – Public Comment Session – Why I Want the Budget

Gunstock Resort Logo

A bit of joviality during the meeting but I think it was more of an inside joke between Tom Day (GM and Prez of GMR) and I as the discussion during the Public Comment session was around whether or not the GMR Budget at the General Ledger line level was going to be released to me as a result of my RSA 91-A demand for it.  I previously had his answer of a flat “No” but I decided to appeal to the Gunstock Area Commissioners to overrule his decision.

However, during the meeting, he demanded why I wanted that information:

So what is your interest in this budget? What do you expect to find?

. So I quoted his own words:

As you told me, in one of your emails, that it was not up to me to tell you who was a valid Commissioner, I will tell you that it is above your pay grade of why I want that Budget.

Apologies for the swearing in the background after my statement. However, I think that while he was not expecting that answer, he took it with good humor (a little head shake, a small smile on his face). It was clear, however, that the guy in the grey fleece sitting at the table close to me thought it was a bit amusing (trying to hide his smile).  Commissioners Jade Wood and Gary Kiedaisch seemed to be rather nonplussed about it.

For context, here’s the actual email thread (abridged) is here. He had just emailed me that I would not be receiving the Budget and had also included Rusty McClear (who, at this meeting, was effectively removed from office) and my email response was only to show that I wasn’t including McLear:

Note: I have removed Rusty from this response as he is not a valid Commissioner – Belknap County Delegation Chair Mike Sylvia’s words of yore do NOT trump the black and white letter of State Statute (RSA 399:4). His email of today has sprung out into the wild and now contraindicates what you’ve been quoting for a while (along with Gary Kiedaisch) and is now aligned with State Statute.  Change my mind.

Well, Mr. Day didn’t like that much at all, that I had removed Mr. McLear from the email conversation:

Don’t really know what you are rambling on about.

But as I stated before I am not sharing my budgets.

Rusty is cc’d on this. Not up to you to tell me who is a valid commissioner.

He can do what he wants just like I had done what I wanted. But I wasn’t going to allow him to put words into my mouth that I had not said.

I told you to do nothing of the sort – merely advising you that the County Delegation made that decision.  You may take that anyway you want.

And for the record, if you haven’t watched the other videos, the Commissioners agreed to seek out legal counsel to determine the legitimacy of my RTK.

To be continued.
