I don’t know what the “internals” are on this poll but I’m betting that Republicans lead the way on believing most money taken by Government from us is wasted.
Independents are a little behind the Republicans in that sentiment, but Democrats are OUTRAGED by the rest of us calling it “waste.”
To the Left EVERY dollar spent by Government is sacred and even the smallest agency’s budget can’t be cut to anything less than they wanted at budgeting time (which often is an illogical increase given their mission). Held to level funding? THAT’S A CUT!
And if you really want to hear the caterwauling at Volume 11, go ahead, cut the budget. THAT’S when “Democracy Dies In Darkness”, that’s when “YOU’RE KILLING GOVERNMENT!,” that’s when you hear “SOMEONE WILL LOSE THEIR JOB!” (as if THAT never happens in the Private Sector).
And the best of all is “ANARCHIST!!!”.
And all I want to do is have a limited Government as defined by our Founders.
Here’s a thought experiment: think we could get a coalition of folks together to agree to actually CUT the Government spending? Reset the Fed’s spending to 49% of what it is now? Slim down State governments to 58% of current expenditures?
Frankly, at the local level, y’all ought to just start knocking on the doors of your School Board members, your Town Councils, your Selectmen, in town and do what the NH Revolutionaries did to Governor Wentworth at the time to send a message – put one of these at their front door aiming inwards:
