Sen. Joe Manchin is proving to be a problem for the Democrats. He is one, but he’s not getting in line like he is supposed to do. Something about, “this would be bad for my constituents,” and Dems are like who?
That’s not your job. To consider their interests and well-being. So, they are pissed. And while Manchin is no defender of liberty or that constitution whatchamacallit, he’s still a thorn in the side of the Biden administration and that’s just fun to watch.
The latest bit of theater relates to the Biden Build Back Better Bill which is none of those things but a lot of other things. Sen. Joe says no, while President Joe thought he said yes. That may not be the end of it – Democrats are nothing if not persistent, but as noted in the headline, that’s not exactly the point I was hoping to make so enough with the preamble.
As is customary when Dems don’t get their way, they send Baghdad Bob out to make sure the media has the correct narrative cued up and it looks like this.
The economy is already breaking inflation records and there’s no sign of that stopping. Manchin is concerned about additional pressures created by another 1.7 Trillion in spending.
Psaki, Jen Psaki, the White House Spokesperson (see also Baghdad Bob) was not just dismissive about these concerns.
“If someone is concerned about the impact that higher prices are having on families, this bill gives them a break,” Psaki wrote.
Really?
Diluting the value of the dollar by “printing” a few trillion more of them that don’t exist will increase inflation. It will drive up prices. Claiming that any handouts offset that at of economic force is like saying we’re going to beat the sh!t out of you but don’t worry. We’ll pay for your doctor visit.
And when you get out, the price pressures will still be there, probably for years to come, effectively beating the crap out of them again. The Democrat solution to this is to print more pretend money and make the problem worse, (maybe) backed by bonds they sell to our enemies.
What else could go wrong?
I’m not sure Mr. Manchin wants to go there but he should. The Dems are not giving up on their latest dumpster fire of a bailout bill, most of which will end up in the hands of the Blue States and favored factions.
So they will continue to try to break Manchin so they can get on with breaking the country.
Will it work?
