An elementary school has canceled its traditional Halloween parade because someone decided it marginalizes students of color. Yes, the Left’s high secular holiday is officially racist.
Halloween events create a situation where some students must be excluded for their beliefs, financial status, or life experience. Costume parties often become an uncomfortable event for many children, and they distract students and staff from learning. Large events create changes in schedules with loud noise levels and crowds. Some students experience over stimulation, while others must deal with complex feelings of exclusion. It’s uncomfortable and upsetting for kids.
But the #woke administrator’s beliefs, and life experience does not make children uncomfortable or distract them from learning? How about a mask mandate? That’s not something every culture does, so isn’t that forcing your beliefs and life experience on others?
Masking was mandated across Washington State, indoors and out as of September.
Then there’s vaccination. African Americans are one of the least receptive groups to The Jab™, but #woke administrators and politicians are forever working tirelessly to get them to line up for it.
Washington requires all state employees to get The Jab™, and access to restaurants, Gyms, and similar indoor places will require proof of vaccination. Talk about making people of color uncomfortable. You are discriminating against them in the workplace and public places based on your beliefs and values.
By the way, the decision to scrap the parade was made after a recommendation from the school’s Racial Equity Team. One parent, who is Asain, says, “I don’t see any way in which this actually addresses any inequities to the extent that there are any inequities,” [David] Malkin tells the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH. “You know, this just seems like grandstanding on behalf of the principal and the staff who are predominantly white.”
That, more or less, explains everything about, well, everything.
Most of these policies and decisions are made by indoctrinated, guilty white liberals who have no connection to the real world and do not include parents in these sorts of discussions. But if they did, they would be #woke white parents or other progressive allies.
The result is kids who would otherwise never consider any of this relevant to their beliefs or life experience that end up losing out on having fun with kids who just want to be kids. And there is an essential lesson in that.
The #woke liberal utopia isn’t fun. Not at all.
