All summer long, we’ve seen story after story of angry parents trying to get local School Boards to even just ACKNOWLEDGE that their concerns MATTER! That the stuff that schools are bringing in to indoctrinate their kids should NEVER have been in the schools in the first place. They just get ignored.
They sit there, stone-faced – elected representatives that refuse to be open, transparent, and ACCOUNTABLE to their constituents.
As if we didn’t exist.
And just when I think the Government School system can’t get much more condescending towards Parents, this happens (reformatted, emphasis mine):
School boards group asks Biden to consider labeling opponents ‘domestic terrorists’
The National School Boards Association has asked President Biden to look into slapping a “domestic terrorist” label on “angry” parents and community members who speak their minds at board meetings. “America’s public schools and its education leaders are under an immediate threat,” the group says in its letter to the president. “[As] acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials have increased, the classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes.”
The NSBA wants the Gun-Free School Zones Act, the USA PATRIOT Act, the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, the Violent Interference with Federally Protected Rights statute, and the Conspiracy Against Rights statute all invoked to help prevent alleged threats, Education Week reports.
Right. As we have seen with the Biden Administration already, and the Obama Administration, in the past, did the same with anyone that was a White, Evangelical Christian, Middle Aged Man who felt that Government was overstepping its bounds. Oh, and veterans that had sworn an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and believed that’s how the Government was supposed to behave.
And these clowns think that people who get rowdy, stand on their protected speech, are tired of being pushed around, and essentially being told “WE know what’s best for your children – SO GO AWAY!” believe they are and should NEVER be questioned about how YOUR kids are taught by THEM?
Like Terry McAuliffe, former Democrat National Committee Chair and current Democrat candidate for Virginia Governor:
“I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach”
After all, Government knows best, eh? No, I’m not going to start in on all of the various screw-ups that it has given to kids (like how well Baltimore’s Government schools are doing).
And it’s not just the National School Board Association – the School Superintendents Association agreed with them:
On Sept. 22, the NSBA, along with AASA, the School Superintendents Association, issued a joint statement condemning “online and in-person threats, abuse and harassment.” AASA President Daniel Domenech said that while his group respected the right of free speech, “We cannot—and will not—tolerate aggression, intimidation, threats and violence toward superintendents, board members and educators.”
But some of the instances cited by the NSBA in its letter appear to be free speech, to say nothing of “terrorism.” For example, the group cites a person yelling “a Nazi salute in protest to masking requirements,” while another’s actions “prompted [a] board to call a recess because of opposition to critical race theory.”
As repugnant as it may be to some, doing a Nazi gesture in opposition to mask mandates in a public forum is protected speech … as is someone speaking out against critical race theory.
It’s certainly not “terrorism” to go over a speaking time limit or to refuse to sit down, and definitely not something worthy of anything beyond the purview of local law enforcement.
But that’s how the Left rolls these days – absolutely demonizing and putting those that refuse to agree with them in the worst possible light and try HARD to put them into legal difficulties. Really, getting arrested for simply telling a Board that CRT is disgustingly racist and that boys should NEVER be allowed into girls’ locker rooms.
So, I asked my elected representatives on the Gilford School Board, after telling them what the NSBA had said:
Do you agree with the NSBA that we are domestic terrorists?
They just sat there. I wasn’t surprised.
Now, to be fair, Kyle Sanborn did complain that I had just stolen his thunder – he had seen a similar post and said it was disgusting how Parents were being portrayed. Good on him.
I dryly note that that Chair Gretchen Gandini and Vice-Chair Karen Thurston just sat there.
