If Risking Some State Sovereignty is Not Enough, Chris Sununu, What Price Would Be Too High?

Mr. Sununu continues to claim he’s convinced that the strings attached to the 27 million in Federal dollars he’s clamoring for are just for show. Nothing to see here; just hand over the money. At what cost? He says none. We disagree.

The contract states that if accepted, New Hampshire would have to do the bidding of DHHS and the DOJ on matters relating to vaccine mandates and enforcement as well as whatever the “CDC will specify in further guidance and directives what is encompassed.”

It’s an open-ended agreement. We get some money, and the CDC will then decide what New Hampshire must do.

  • If we refuse, they can demand the money back.
  • We have conflicting state laws against vaccine passports and mandates.
  • The Governor of New Hampshire’s first duty is to the state, its constitution, and to protect its citizens (especially) from federal government overreach.

I guess those are just boilerplate as well?

Exactly how much of New Hampshire’s sovereignty would you risk, Governor. So, much that we can’t be sure. And we’ve not only no guarantee you will protect us, but we can also rest assured you will not.

You’re already on the record playing pandemic politics and claiming your hands were tied because of federal stipulations tied to Federal resources at your disposal.

While at this time it is unclear what powers the federal government may have to enforce contractual obligations that violate state law, it is nevertheless perfectly clear that in the recent past, the Sununu administration has been more than willing to violate state law to comply with federal stipulations.

Executive Order 76, which the Governor signed on December 11, 2020, did just that. Contrary to state law, and arguably Part 1, Art 2b of the state Constitution, Governor Sununu ordered that “All patient-level information relating to [Covid-19] vaccine administration shall be stored in the [state vaccine registry] as a medical record.” In so doing, Governor Sununu recognized that he had “suspended” a duly enacted state statute “for the duration of the State of Emergency.” At a press conference discussing this order, the Governor stated that he had no choice due to a federal contract.

Gov. Sununu has suspended several natural rights by executive fiat. He has insulted the intelligence of his citizens. Attacked members of his own party who refuse to toe the Democrats federal narrative on COVID19 and vaccines. And now he tells us that a mandate tied to federal money is unenforceable after telling us he had to act because one was.

I don’t care if you are a nice person, a great guy, or you mean well, or even if you actually believe this is a good deal or the best path. You have proven to us that you cannot be trusted with the rights and liberties of your citizens.

The fact that you are the lesser of two evils does not make it or you right. And we will not lay down and roll over because you are registered as a Republican. Until you start acting like one, we must consider you an enemy of freedom.

That brings me back to the question in the title. The contract language threatens to deny us our sovereignty, and you deny that this is relevant.

If the potential for open-ended obedience to the CDC in perpetuity is a line you will cross, what line won’t you cross? Is there some price too high that even you wouldn’t risk selling us out to the Feds?
