Maybe you’ve heard the story. Back in 2018, when we rebuilt the site (it was old and vulnerable), I insisted on the tag line in our header. ‘Dominating the Political Bandwidth in New Hampshire.’ You gotta have goals, and Skip relented, and I was right to insist.
But we’ve taken it a few steps better.
With no advertising budget or paid staff, no “journalists,” no sports, weather, want ads, wire services, or personal interest stories, we’ve secured a position of online dominance in the Granite State.
For another month, and we’ve widened our lead. We’d like to again thank you, our readers, for that.
Next Steps
We’ve still got work to do. We’re not Dominating Northern New England quite yet, but we’re getting there, and while we’re beating more than a few media portals in Massachusetts in Alexa Rank, they’ve got heavy hitters down there. Breaking into the top 10,000 websites in the US is a tough row to hoe. Staying there is even harder.
But we’ve done it before. In the fall of 2019 and into January of 2020 (before Facebook throttled us), we reached the 7,000s. GraniteGrok was on its way to competing with WMUR for online traffic. We were about 1000 points away.
That would be a thing if we could pull it off again, but we’ll need your continued support and the support of like-minded readers around New England and the Nation, and we will do our best to deserve your time and attention.
But WMUR has ABC’s reach, and we’ve got…well, a couple of unpaid hobbyists and a monopoly on our niche, and you guys. We still think we’ve got an edge.
For now, let’s see if we can crawl toward 10K by the end of this year. We’ve got a few months to work on it and you gotta have goals. Until then, here’s the latest Alexa Ranking update as of 8 pm ET 8/17/2021.
