Yesterday there was a webinar whereby “Public Educators” were supposed to get together and talk about HB2 (Most likely) to discuss prohibitions in New Hampshire against teaching Critical Race Theory.
I had signed up as Steve suggested, but moments before it was to start, I received the following:
However, even with being a “Public Educator” at the local community college, I guess I was not worthy. One has to wonder, though, did they talk about:
- OK, no bringing it into our classrooms, or
- Talking about how to surreptitiously STILL teach it in their classroom.
My money is on the latter.
Go ahead, let them put both themselves AND their School Boards at legal risk of lawsuits.
We already know 50 of these folks. And it is clear that this group, Educating for Good, is a Left-leaning advocacy group. I’m betting they talked smack about the Parents who they believe should be cut out of ALL discussions on how their children are to be educated.
From their Mission Statement, there is not ONE word about Parents who actually employ these Marxist missionaries (emphasis mine on all the right buzzwords that show they are a POLITICAL advocacy group and not an educational one):
Our Vision:
A Just and Equitable World
PUBLIC SCHOOL IS IMPORTANT
Not Education of children – just Public Schools. As if they are “entitled”.
Learning with and as a community which has members with varying perspectives and backgrounds is an important strategy in building a just society. Public school and public school teachers are vital in this learning.
But as experience shows, those with “varying perspectives” that are Conservative in nature are NOT welcome (see my email, above).
In our current unjust system, where so many of our children live in poverty, whose parents are working multiple jobs, not to thrive, but to survive, quality, well-funded public education is important, so that the next generation can work together to make better decisions about how we live. Public school provides opportunities for individual growth and
Enrollments are down but the “needs” are up – because “it’s for the children”, we adults need more and more money. Still all about public schools but still waiting to see that “education” word.
collective sustainability. Opportunities, in many cases, that are lost, because the system has been set up in such a way counter to these possibilities. We need to focus on Educating for Good if we are going to change the way individuals in our communities interact, function and support each other. The public school debate is not just about funding, it’s about what happens when our learners get there.
See, they don’t see schools as places for education – they see schools as avenues to CHANGE US. Or as Progressives say, to “evolve” us. Notice we have no role in this matter…
Our Mission:
Align Vision and Practice
WORKING TOWARD THE GOOD, WE
Guide educators and communities through reflective experiences to understand current school policies, structures and practices and how these help or harm their students and communities.
How about just sticking to education – the present POOR standardized test scores are going to be worth a dang in the “community” if they stay in the “not proficient” ranges.
Help schools and districts develop their community’s Vision for Graduates and competency based implementation plans to help them meet that vision. Provide Technical Solutions and Professional Development Sequences to help schools move from where they are to where their communities hope they’ll be.
The Work We Do:
- Provide on-site and remote professional development and coaching related to competency based education for teachers, leaders and school boards. We connect curriculum, instruction and assessment
- Support a school community in developing its Vision for Graduates
- Create resources and processes tailored to your learning community’s needs including micro-credentials
- Provide targeted, instructional coaching for teachers
- Create reflective learning spaces for communities that address the injustices of the education system
- Thought partners for anyone educating for good
- Share resources, ideas, learning opportunities others are creating and offering in order to educate for good
What surprises me (not at all) is that they NEVER define what their version of “Good” is? Except, as I pointed out, not once did they mention education or the elements one would associate with good education.
Thankfully, this is only a two-person commercial entity trying to sell themselves. Unfortunately, even a single person can screw up an entire school system.
