Critical Race Theory Is Designed to Divide Us: No More E Pluribus Unum – Stack of Stuff Part 14

As always, much reformatting and almost all the emphasis is mine. Pay attention to the third one down and realize that teacher unions are not your friends.

  • From Christopher Rufo – Critical Race Theory Divides Us:

So how can you tell if a teacher, principal, or school board official tells you that, no, there’s no critical race theory here (as a lone heckler briefly interrupted my remarks in Loudoun County to inform me)? Here is a list (by no means exhaustive) of five key critical race theory principles. If your school or office does anything that includes these ideas, you can confidently call Bovine Manure when they deny it’s critical race theory.

  • The first and most important bedrock principle of critical race theory is that racism is not an individual, conscious decision to be a racist or act on that belief. No, it’s “systemic.”
  • A second principle follows from the first: Behaviors and beliefs are inherent in identity categories, and thus the members of these categories must not adopt American culture—which, in their telling, is merely a conspiracy to perpetuate white supremacy. Members of minority groups must never assimilate to standard practices or norms, even those that appear neutral on the surface.
  • A third bedrock principle is that white people receive unearned privilege at birth, while other Americans are denied it. This “whiteness premium” has prevented the union of the working class.
  • A fourth principle is that meritocracy is myth. Since whites have rigged the system, all the ways we use to measure merit or success in education or work are far from objective. Hiring metrics and workplace benchmarks, and standardized tests for university admissions, must be eliminated.
  • The fifth and last tenet is that equity must replace equality…under critical race theory, the word equity has become corrupted, and has become the functional opposite of equality. Because the systemic racism that critical race theory’s proponents see everywhere has produced disparities under a capitalist system that rewards the wrong criteria, government must step in and treat individual Americans unequally. Only in that manner will outcomes be equal.

America’s teachers’ unions are the country’s single most malign influence. They do more to promote leftist extremism, and do it more effectively, than anyone else. The teachers’ unions dominate the schools of education, from which most teachers come, and they control school board elections in most districts. In effect, they run the public schools, which is the main reason why the public schools are so bad.  This is Item 39 of New Business:

A. Share and publicize, through existing channels, information already available on critical race theory (CRT) — what it is and what it is not; have a team of staffers for members who want to learn more and fight back against anti-CRT rhetoric…

B. Provide an already-created, in-depth, study that critiques empire, white supremacy, anti-Blackness, anti-Indigeneity, racism, patriarchy, cisheteropatriarchy, capitalism, ableism, anthropocentrism, and other forms of power and oppression at the intersections of our society, and that we oppose attempts to ban critical race theory and/or The 1619 Project.

C. Publicly (through existing media) convey its support for the accurate and honest teaching of social studies topics, including truthful and age-appropriate accountings of unpleasant aspects of American history, such as slavery, and the oppression and discrimination of Indigenous, Black, Brown, and other peoples of color, as well as the continued impact this history has on our current society. The Association will further convey that in teaching these topics, it is reasonable and appropriate for curriculum to be informed by academic frameworks for understanding and interpreting the impact of the past on current society, including critical race theory.

And goodness is always defined within the Leftist tradition. You can easily see where the Conservative view will be placed.

D. Join with Black Lives Matter at School and the Zinn Education Project to call for a rally this year on October 14—George Floyd’s birthday—as a national day of action to teach lessons about structural racism and oppression—even in places where it is illegal and requires civil disobedience. Followed by additional days of action that recognize and honor lives taken such as Breonna Taylor, Philando Castile, and others. The National Education Association shall publicize these National Days of Action to all its members, including in NEA Today.

E. Conduct a listening tour that will educate members on the tools and resources needed to defend honesty in education including but not limited to tools like CRT…

No, honesty will NOT be the highest value within this agenda.

It’s the belief that our nation’s somber history of slavery can only be redeemed by erasing every institution and person that took any part in the nation’s founding. Just as Marxism before it, critical race theory eliminates our individuality and instead divides us into groups of the “oppressor” and the “oppressed.” Where Marxism divided people according to economic status, critical race theory divides people based on the color of their skin—just like the very racists that its proponents claim to oppose. And, just as with Marxism before it, the goals of critical race theory will only be achieved by means of a full-scale revolution to rewrite any trace of American history.

…However, discussions often ignore one important group. In between the state education department and the local school district is a layer of non-profits. While you may be familiar with accreditation for colleges and specific types of degree programs, certain organizations provide accreditation at the K-12 level in about 20 states. This additional layer of oversight is becoming a burden for parents in Georgia school districts who deal with activist school board members pushing curriculum based on critical theories.

…Although Cognia aims to ensure education quality, it seems the organization has not been doing such a great job in recent decades, perhaps because it takes a “holistic” approach with a commitment to “diversity, equity, and inclusion.” Right now, the organization is inserting itself into an increasingly political fight between the school board members in Cobb County, Georgia.

…Cognia, the company who decides if your child’s school is up to snuff, has a business model that’s tough to beat: A non-governmental organization supported by government funding. Put another way, Cognia lives off the taxpayers’ teat, but is accountable to no one. Not bad work if you can get it.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) said during a Heritage Foundation event on Thursday that critical race theory will have the “most corrosive” influence on the military if left unchecked. The Arkansas senator, who sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said critical race theory’s presence in the armed forces may merit additional scrutiny, and that he may question military officers up for senior promotions about their views on the controversial theory.

“I may start probing nominees to be promoted to the ranks of O-7 to O-10 on their views on it,” Cotton said. “Military nominations are handled at the staff level, so there’s not a deep review of them unless there’s a red flag…. Maybe it’s time to change that. Maybe it’s time to ensure our flag officers subscribe to those very basic principles outlined in the Declaration of Independence or Martin Luther King Jr.’s ‘I Have a Dream’ speech.”

Nicole Solas is the South Kingstown, Rhode Island, mother of a child entering kindergarten in the fall who has been targeted by the School District, School Committee, and Rhode Island School Superintendents Association, after she filed a large number of public records requests regarding Critical Race and Gender teaching in the elementary school.

Solas first told her story in an op-ed at Legal Insurrection, and her story went national with multiple media appearances, including on Fox and Friends, and Tucker Carlson. Here are our posts about her story…

…Not only did the full weight of the public educational establishment come down on her, but so did the South Kingstown chapter of the National Education Association, according to documents Solas obtained and posted on Facebook, showing she was the subject of an emergency union meeting, including the slides below allegedly showed on a screen during a union meeting:

The teachers union, NEASK (National Education Association – South Kingstown), held an emergency meeting on June 8 to target and bully me – a parent. These are the leaked slides presented to 250 teachers who didn’t bat an eyelash at formally organizing to target a parent who made public record requests at the direction of the school.

Now Solas has some high-powered legal help. The Goldwater Institute, which has a very strong litigation wing, will be representing Solas according to a press release issued today by Goldwater, Mom in Classroom Fight Gets Legal Firepower from Goldwater Institute:

Nationwide, parents are increasingly alarmed about what their children are being taught in their schools, including controversial lessons about race, gender, and the very founding of our country. Yet across the country, it’s far more difficult than it should be for parents to find out what, exactly, is being taught in the classroom. Today, the Goldwater Institute is taking action on behalf of one conscientious parent who just wants to know what her daughter is learning.

When Nicole Solas’ daughter was starting kindergarten, she sought information from Rhode Island’s South Kingstown School Department about what was going to be taught in her daughter’s classroom. Nicole was especially concerned that some controversial materials, including some on racially charged topics and gender theory, would be presented to her young child.

Guess who else is about to do the same?  And you Parents ought to be doing the same thing. After all, it is YOUR school system, not the School Board’s, not the Administration, and certainly not the teachers or the Teacher Unions!

“About 99%” of the criticism Lightfoot gets as mayor is motivated by racism and sexism, Lightfoot told WTTW News. “Look at my predecessors,” Lightfoot said, adding that former Mayor Richard M. Daley wasn’t known for holding “tea sessions” with opponents and that former Mayor Rahm Emanuel wasn’t known as a “polite guy who was a uniter.”

Women and people of color are always held to a different standard,” Lightfoot said. “I’ve known that my whole life.”  Lightfoot said she was elected to “disrupt the status quo” and that is designed to make people uncomfortable but pledged to continue improving. Lightfoot said her critics are motivated to speak out because they “don’t like to see a woman assume power.”

When those of Color and “those that can give birth to unaborted children” can’t win an argument, they ALWAYS throw the Race and Gender Cards…And if you are self-acknowledging that you were elected, as a Black woman, to disrupt the status quo, you knew what you were getting yourself into.

And now, you’re taking the easy way out by Victimizing yourself. Good times, good times….
