Starting in the early 70s, all I heard was that we were heading into an Ice Age again (at best, a Mini-Ice Age). Then the waffling started as every grifter tried to get the research dollars and product sales that such news would bring.
The worst were those that immediately (as all Progressives are wont to do) called for both the US and the World on a military War foot to fight Global Cooling, Global Warming, Climate Warming, Climate Change, Climate Chaos, Climate Catastrophe; there’s got to be more because (as Progressives are also wont to do) once they burn out a word or phrase, they immediately pivot to something else to keep everyone scared and the money coming in.
Oh, yeah – the utterance:

Oh, new word: Emergency. Brother is this lame:
- Again, they’ve had 50 years to scare us all into action and each and every prediction has gone toes up. You’d think that they would have shamed themselves by now, but that would stop the money flow (see where I’m going with this?).
- Emergency? Really? An emergency is an IMMEDIATE and short-duration event started by a combination of disparate inputs yielding a really bad incident.
Anything to keep people riled and scared – the easier to manipulate people that way. Don’t believe me? Sign up for every Democrat advocacy group’s email that you can – you think that WMUR’s panic porn is bad?? Yikes! But again, they all play to peoples’ emotions (and yes, sadly, the Republican groups are, more and more, using the same technique).
The CEO of the Global Center for Adaptation (GCA) contends that “climate disasters have doubled” during the last 20 years, CNBC reported Wednesday.
Patrick Verkooijen, who runs the GCA, which describes itself as a “solutions broker to accelerate, innovate and scale adaptation action for a climate-resilient world,” told CNBC the coronavirus pandemic had been a “wake-up call” for the world.
“We are utterly unprepared for the next crisis, the climate emergency,” Verkooijen said, adding that “90% of all natural disasters are water related, more floods, more droughts, more storms, more fires.”
“In the last two decades, these climate disasters have doubled,” he stated. “Half a million people lost their lives and over 2 trillion in economic losses.”
Two decades? Then Climate Emergency is a piker – Antifa and BLM did that much monetary damage in a single summer. And 500,000 lives lost over 20 years is 25,000/year. Given that we’re at about 8 billion people, that’s 0.0003125%. In comparison, 3 million a year die in the US alone.
Not an emergency – but they depend on you to NOT know the facts against which to compare and against which to set up a good context.
You know, like WMUR’s WuFlu panic report at the top of every news report. Note that they always give the death rate (currently told as 1%) as a percentage of those that had COVID (about 100K here in NH) and NOT the entire NH population (which at 1.34 million, would make that a very tiny percentage at 0.01%).
But grifters gotta grift – know what their scam is and in the case of these Climate Grifters (if you been reading my dispatches from TreeHugger) it’s not just about the money they demand they get from you but the control over your lives. Their solution is ALWAYS Bigger Government:
The Bigger the Government, the smaller the citizen.
As they used to say in the 60s: FIGHT THE POWER! QUESTION THE MAN!
