Promoted from the Comments – When Government calls an Entitlement a “Right”

From my post “Promoted from the Comments – The Proper Role of Government” comes along a different way of saying the same thing. Frequent Commenter and Contributor Nitzakhon:

Remember that ANY “right” that requires someone to be provided with something places an obligation on someone else to pay for it. Which translates to being enslaved.

The Left hates it when their faux Rights are exposed like that because Government can’t give anyone ANYTHING unless they first take from someone else. The Left deflects this fact by retorting “Social Contract” and much verbiage on how we are a “family” and that we are obligated to help one another.

No, we’re NOT a family and we’re NOT “all in this together” – that is just a backhanded manner of continuing the collectivization process that’s been going on for decades; the “obligated” part tries to make it a moral issue that cannot be refused.

Actually, it’s very easy – I do not allow anyone to place any kind of obligation upon me without first obtaining my consent. NO ONE should be able to force (“obligate” is just a milder word that still means “force”) anyone to do anything. They may try to browbeat you into something that you’d rather not do – don’t be weakened and let them do so. Accepting an “obligation” is a voluntary act – or at least it used to be.

So when someone of the Left tries it by using “soft” words, use hard ones right back. Enslaved fits the bill exactly.
