A fitness instructor, who now happens to be a 100% NHHRA rated Republican New Hampshire state rep, had someone call the statehouse to complain? Not about a vote but over a three-year-old photo she shared on Facebook.
No, it’s not the featured image above and we don’t know who complained, but their intentions seem clear.
Yesterday, someone called the State House and complained that I, as a State Representative posted an inappropriate selfie and that the picture should be taken down, and if it’s not taken down, they will cause problems by posting it on other media.
Rep. Tina Harley shared the memory from a time when she was a Zumba Instructor three years ago. A selfie of her looking fit in a dress she said was given to her by a friend, shared on her personal Facebook page.
She looks like she’s ready to go clubbing with some girlfriends.
I’m not sure what sort of threat they (who claim to be so offended) expected “sharing it all over other media” to be, but they intended it as a threat. The “complainer” felt empowered by some ability to hold this over Rep. Harley, but Tina wasn’t having any of that.
Well, No!!! I’m not going to be bullied to take down my picture! This page is my own profile page, and I refuse to take down anything that I post on it! I would never post pictures of myself on my State Rep page, but I will not be told what I can or can’t post on my own personal page!!! And to the person having an issue with my picture – It was my business to be fit for my work as a Zumba Instructor when the selfie was taken.
And not that this means anything but fit people are less likely to get or spread the Rona. You know, if anyone cares or asks.
Then there’s this. Democrats have this habit of announcing how important it is to be your own person (especially women) while using government to create a culture of impenetrable conformity alongside a two-class system of ethics. Epstein, Schneidermann, Franken, Clinton, Cuomo.
Groping Joe Biden, who swam naked in front of his female secret-service agents daily, is a hero – but a Republican woman and fitness instructor in a party dress (on her own time) needs to be intimidated.
If a Republican got caught threatening a female Democrat Rep over that dress, the sky would fall out of the sexist, bigoted universe.
It’d be on WMUR, maybe MSNBC.
More from Tina,
I currently haven’t worked as a fitness instructor in over a year now because of COVID. I was 50 years old when that selfie was taken 3 years back, and keeping the picture up is a reminder for me to keep on striving to stay healthy and to try to be that fit again!! Sorry if you are offended by my selfie, but the picture IS staying up on my profile page no matter what anyone says!!!
In other words, it has nothing to do with the dress.
And this is exactly the sort of thing we need. Strong, goal-driven female Republican role models who are not easily cowed by these cancel-culture intimidation tactics.
And yes, I look forward to receiving copies of emails from Rep Harley from all the supportive Democrat women who don’t just talk about female empowerment (from the entrenched worldview of abortion politics) but live it.
No. No, I’m not holding my breath.
