Data Point – OECD Total Tax Revenue by Member Countries

by

All we hear about today from the Left (like AOC, The Squad, Pelosi, Schumer, Bernie, and Bruce) is that companies/corporations don’t pay “their fair share.”

Go ahead, stare at this chart:

OECD Total Tax Revenue by Member Countries

Here in the US, that percentage is only 3.9% and that confirms (at least to these economic illiterates) that they aren’t.

It never occurs to them (or, most likely, won’t concede to knowing – except for AOC as I am convinced she really has little to no clue) that a company that is paying a tax is just the cost of doing business.

Taxes go up, so will their price (all other things remaining constant in relation to each other). After all, taxes are merely a cost of doing business (as opposed to a tax applied to Individuals – there is no way for most of us to “shift” that new and arbitrary cost to someone else. Companies, however, just pass that on to their consumers…

…until they can’t. At which point, they may well go out of business (like what happened to many restaurants when Govt jacked up their minimum wages and found out that consumers were no longer willing to pay the higher price, there was no profit any more, and the owners folded. The end result was MORE demand for unemployment and MORE demand for welfare by all those that just learned that the real minimum wage is $0.
