The American Community Survey Stasi Dossier Compilation

American Community Survey

I have this 45-page document to fill out. Forty-five pages of invasive and IMHO illegal personal-data-raping by the US Census Department. Yes, the census! Let’s look at the source code, i.e., the US Constitution:

[An] Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.

Now, I have no issue with this. It’s me, my wife, and two children. Fine. No problem. But then this long-form goes on to ask not just about race, but specifics – in my case, since I am visually white, I am putting down white. But it wants to know the country-of-origin extraction of my whiteness like that’s even possible given my Ancestry DNA mongrel European mix.

It gets worse.

It asks for my educational level, where we get our health insurance, how much we pay in premiums, and what languages we speak at home.

It wants to know our average utility bills – electric, heating, water, etc.

It wants to know if anyone is handicapped, how we heat our house, where we last lived, what city we work in, how we commute to work, how many miles we drive and if we carpool, what are our occupations and describe our duties.

We are asked if we’ve had children in the last 12 months and how many times we’ve been married.

We are asked if we have looked for work, how many hours a week we work, our incomes from all sources, where our kids go to school, and what grades they are in.

So what’s next for 2030? Our religions? Our political affiliations and voting history? Whether we own firearms? Whether we were Mask Covidians or not – and whether we got The Jab?

And, of course, we are assured that our privacy is protected under the law. Uh-huh, right. Right up until the next data breach, or someone enterprising rising tyrant decides to unlock that data… for the good of the community and the country, of course.

Like with so many in the long train of abuses by our federal masters, I am not surprised that they want all this information and doubtless fantasize about yet more.

Nor am I surprised that so many obey and fill out every blank, dot every “i” and cross every “t”… no, what surprises me is that so many census workers don’t say WAIT ONE MINUTE WHY DO WE NEED THIS INFORMATION?

Just like every rising tyranny before, why does nobody ever say, “Sir, I will not obey that order”? Why does nobody ever grasp that the excuse “Just following orders” never worked before, and in the aftermath of what I believe is inevitable – the coming “great North American unpleasantness” – will not work again?

And whatever happened to my right to protect my privacy?
