Ending the Pandemic Was Joe Biden’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Priority – How’s That Working Out?

Campaign Promises

How is our man Biden doing on his campaign promise?  Biden told us ending the pandemic would be his “… first priority … second priority, and the third priority…”  So how is his administration doing three weeks in?

Well, they lost 20 million doses of vaccine. That can’t be helping get results.

And it turns out that a lot of Americans have died from COVID-19 since Biden assumed the presidency. More people have died from the virus than died in the entire Vietnam War. Not good. It must somehow be Trump’s fault.

However we characterize it. It is a grim milestone for any leader.

The virus death count surpassed 60,000 over the weekend. There were 58,220 American soldiers who died in the Vietnam War between 1964 and 1975. Let’s do the math. It took 11 years in Vietnam to kill 58,220 Americans in an armed conflict. That’s about 5293 deaths per year or about 102 deaths per week.

Biden took office on Jan. 20 which means Sunday was 18 days into his reign. That means he has lost 3,333 per day or 23,331 per week.

If things don’t get better there will be about 1.2 million deaths in his first year. Not exactly an auspicious start. But hey, there were a lot of Executive Orders in need of Joe’s personal attention. Wait, what was that? He said what? “… first priority … second priority, and the third priority…”

Reporting has bias… once again and as always

Numerous media outlets marked the occasion of virus deaths surpassing Vietnam War deaths under Trump.

NPR reported at the time: “In not even three months since the first known U.S. deaths from COVID-19, more lives have now been lost to the coronavirus pandemic on U.S. soil than the 58,220 Americans who died over nearly two decades in Vietnam.”

Olivia Nuzzi of New York magazine asked Trump of the milestone during a press conference in April 2020.

“If an American president loses more Americans over the course of six weeks than died in the entirety of the Vietnam War, does he deserve to be reelected?”

Perhaps we can expect her to reflect on whether Biden deserves election? What do you think?

To put the number into greater context: The COVID-19 death toll on Biden’s watch is the equivalent of 25 Pearl Harbors or 20 9/11’s.

Just saying… Is Biden performing on his campaign promise?
