In the name of getting along, a Democrat member of the US House has proposed a way to ensure the swamp stays swampy. She wants to permanently ban any Trump supporter from working for the Federal government, including serving in the military or elected office.

The legislation, titled the Security Clearance Improvement Act of 2021, requires applicants looking to obtain or renew their federal security clearances to disclose if they participated in the Jan. 6 rally in Washington—or another “Stop the Steal” event—or if they “knowingly engaged in activities conducted by an organization or movement that spreads conspiracy theories and false information about the U.S. government.
The Act would deny a security clearance to anyone they decide fits the profile. Trump supporters Q, MAGA, all that.
Don’t worry, this is what we call “the good profiling.”
And since you can’t work for the government or the military without a security clearance, you are de facto barred from service, employment, or election.
Some animals are more equal than others.
They can take your money (and shoot you if you refuse to part with it), but you can’t earn it back in any capacity that requires a security clearance.

What Murphy (the bill’s sponsor) is proposing here is nothing less than a huge raft of thought crimes that Americans could be punished for without ever having broken the law. This would be no different than a law seeking to restrict the employment opportunities of anyone who ever participated in a Black Lives Matter protest that devolved into rioting and looting even if the person in question did not participate in the criminal activity that followed.
I think there might be an “out” should this awful idea find its way into law (which it won’t). Convert to Islam and join a “moderate Muslim” Community, then travel to one of those countries where they train terrorists. Then sneak back in across the Southern border. If you still can’t get a job with the government, they’d be happy to hand you cash, give you free education, healthcare, food, and housing.
And you don’t have to pretend you’re doing it for the good of the people.
