The media and the Left aren’t satisfied with controlling the White House and both chambers of Congress. They want revenge. The Left wants to punish anyone working in the Trump administration. They also want to punish Trump’s supporters.
This is their way of conveying a message of unity.
Example 1: On Thursday, Randall Lane, Forbes’ chief content officer made an announcement. Forbes Media was “holding those who lied for Trump accountable.” Forbes feels compelled to move forward with what he called “a truth reckoning.” Lane claims the media group is taking this unprecedented action. It is their response to the Wednesday mob attack on Capitol Hill.
Lane alleges the president’s “lies-upon-lies, repeated frequently and fervently… provide the kindling, the spark, the gasoline…” leading to the attack. He singles out five senior White House officials. Lane describes them as “the people paid by the People to inform the People.”
Lane’s list is former White House press secretaries. It includes Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and Stephanie Grisham. It also includes current spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany and senior counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway.
What does Lane propose?
“Simple… Don’t let the chronic liars cash in on their dishonesty.” he said. He asserts previous White House spokesmen… have made millions in royalties from book deals after they left. He continues saying, “Trump’s liars don’t merit that same golden parachute.”
Lane then threatens future employers: “Hire any of Trump’s fellow fabulists above… and Forbes will assume that everything your company or firm talks about is a lie.” His 600-word rant is filled with hyperbole and outright misstatements of fact.
Lane uses the word “lie,” “lies,” “liar” or “lied” nine times in his piece — three times in the first paragraph alone. There’s no reference to the fact that it was the previous president who was awarded PolitiFact’s “Lie of the Year.”
Lane does not acknowledge the nearly four years of daily claims in the media made by Democrats of the promotion of the Russian collusion hoax.
What’s Lane’s remedy for accountability with respect to the oft-repeated and uninvestigated error?
The reader of Lane’s article has to keep double-checking to confirm it is indeed Forbes. It sounds more like Vox, Slate, or Raw Story. This is not an opinion columnist. This was the company’s chief content officer. He is speaking for Forbes, not just himself.
Forbes is seriously diminished by such cancel culture rantings. It has long been a respected business publication of its creator, B.C. Forbes. It carries forward the tradition of the late Malcolm S. Forbes. His son Steve, is one of the country’s most noted conservatives. The family no longer owns the publication.
Steve Forbes has been a strong supporter of Trump. He was endorsing in him in both 2016 and 2020. Steve Forbes and the Forbes family no longer own Forbes the media company. Forbes Media was sold six years ago to Integrated Whale Media Investments. Whale media is based in Hong Kong, a territory of mainland Communist China.
Making a list and checking it twice…
Forbes Media wasn’t the first to threaten future employers of Trump White House staffers. Rep. AOC suggests someone should begin compiling a list of Trump White House staffers. She said:
“Is anyone archiving these Trump sycophants for when they try to downplay or deny their complicity in the future?… I foresee decent probability of many deleted Tweets, writings, photos in the future.”
Hari Sevugan is a former senior spokesman for the Barack Obama presidential campaign. Hari answer to the AOC call.
“You better believe it… We just launched the Trump Accountability Project… to make sure anyone who took a paycheck to help Trump undermine America… is held responsible for what they did.”
The Lincoln Project’s Stuart Stevens announced on Twitter that it will also track former White House staffers.
“At @ProjectLincoln we are constructing a database of Trump officials & staff… that will detail their roles in the Trump administration & track where they are now… No personal info, only professional. But they will be held accountable & not allowed to pretend they were not involved…”
Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume observes of the Lincoln Project effort…
“This will not end well…”
