Sigh – Heinlein’s “Crazy Years” was a fictional prop but can’t even BEGIN to match what we are going through right now. Seriously, the American People’s lack of “hope” can be assuaged by a BidenCheck (hey, we had ObamaPhones, so let the belittling of the new Not My President begin!) to the tune of $2,000 each? I’ve been in a snarky mood lately but I can’t even BEGIN to rise to the level needed to puncture this really bad justification of sending out more money (reformatted, emphasis mine):
Rubio Implores Biden to ‘Rise Above the Rhetoric’ and Send Americans $2,000 Direct Payments
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) is calling on President-elect Joe Biden to deliver a message of unity to Americans by sending them $2,000 direct payments. In a letter obtained by Axios, Rubio called last week’s riots at the U.S. Capitol “one of the darkest days in our history” and wrote Americans are “desperate” for hope.
“It would send a powerful message to the American people if, on the first day of your presidency, you called on the House and Senate to send you legislation to increase the direct economic impact payments to Americans struggling due to the pandemic from $600 to $2,000,” Rubio said in the letter on Tuesday.
You know, I don’t even remember on clicking on this Independent Journal Review post – but I think it encapsulates the “look down your nose” and hubris that our Ruling / Political Class has for the rest of us. Seriously, does Rubio REALLY believe that money = hope? Yes, I have been saying that “Government broke it, so it bought it”) but a constant flow of cash from the Feds, when it has been State level politicians that broke it, isn’t going to solve it.
Rather, the States are really the only ones that can clean up the messes they created. Stop the lockdowns, stop with the “non-essential” tags, and stop with the Stasi methods of enforcing extra-Constitutional Emergency Orders that have cast aside the old fashioned “separation of Powers” and The Rule of Law schtick – it gets in the way of “Public Safety trumps EVERYTHING” mentality.
If Socialism can be defined as “wealth transfers from one set of people to other people”, well, we’re certainly on our way as it seems that the best thing that Government does anymore is cut checks – take from the producers and give to the takers (yes, I think we’ll be using that phrase again based on who is leading and who is staffing the Biden Administration).
And Marco Rubio is all in on this.
