Why should ensembles “reflect the communities they serve?” And if they should, then I hope that our other institutions, like basketball teams and university faculties, will also look like America.
Why should ANYTHING “reflect the communities they serve”? As long as any attributable laws are followed, who cares what color someone’s skin is? We used to be a nation built on merit – it looks like Progressives want it on a strict melanin quota. In the case of the above, it should only be based on the musicality of the person auditioning for the orchestra – and there is nothing against doing that in the law.
Should all entities in any community be forced to meet a quota system? And in doing so, isn’t that racism itself? Or at least discrimination of world viewpoint?
WHAT is more important – the skin that covers your mind and heart, or the outlook and beliefs of that mind and the emotions of that heart?
Seemingly, it is the former. Which, as we have seen with the Democrats, what they really value is their GroupThink. After all, if a Tim, Scott, Ben Carson, or a Walter Williams, or a Thomas Sowell even be considered for playing in orchestra given they refuse the Democrat plantation? Heck, given the Left’s capture of Academia and how they have warped the “audition” process to keep “non-Narrative believers” out of their Departments, could they even be hired nowadays?
We should be a color-blind society, not caring for the color of your exterior organ. Nor should adherence to a given worldview be valued either when it comes to such employment.
OK, time for a different ox to gore – how would this mindthink affect certain sports? NBA? NFL? Those two would most likely have the reverse effect than what is being demanded above. And how would “individual” sports take it on the chin? Would tennis have to shuck off white players like Hollywood is white actors to provide places for minorities? What about NASCAR?
The “running amok” would run rampant.
Or is it already?
