The NHGOP has notified several county committees that they need to vote for State Committee members via zoom meetings. No in-person voting (presumably) because the high inquisitors of covidism will come calling in the press. Okay, Karen, but that violates the Party Bylaws.
Related: “All entities that are not explicitly right-wing will become left-wing over time.”
3.Caucuses:
A. The State Chairman will also call biennial meetings of the Party nominees and elected Party delegates for the purpose of holding a caucus to elect members of the State Committee. These meetings must take place during the period beginning immediately following the biennial election and ending by December 15th. All qualified registered Republicans nominated shall be included on the ballot for consideration of election at these meetings. All voting shall be conducted by printed ballot unless the race is uncontested. The State Chairman will be responsible for notifying all party nominees and elected Party delegates by mail at least ten days before the day of the meeting. Only members of the State Committee shall elect the County and City Committee officers.
I’m not hip to the contests or contested races, but I bet there are more than one or two, and they matter.
The makeup of the State Committee defines how the party approaches everything it does, so this is important. And if you missed this from earlier, “All entities that are not explicitly right-wing will become left-wing over time.”
The NHGOP is not exactly what I would call “explicitly right-wing. As in, committed to the defense of the Constitutional Republic or the Live Free or Die New Hampshire Advantage “no matter what.”
Yes, I can hear the whining from here.
You’re bashing us the way you bash Gov. Sununu. Waaaaahhh.
We back the governor 110% when he’s not behaving like a leftist. That rule applies to everyone. And there are far more examples of the New Hampshire Republican party taking a knee than our current governor.
While the governor’s defenders may argue that the legislature gave him these powers he’s abusing, a real Liberty Republican would not ignore constitutional constraints upon government. They would not only consider RSA 4:45 and 4:47 as written an affront to the sovereignty and rights of its citizens, but they would also lead the legislative charge to correct the error or deliberately defer to their consultation and judgment. Work to amend the statute or rescind it. Ensure that power remained primarily with the legislature. Then use the office to sell your plans to the people House and Senate rather than simply force it on us with an endless stream of emergency orders.
Nope. That’s because All entities that are not explicitly right-wing will become left-wing over time.”
The NHGOP By-Laws do not permit distance voting for contested races. The answer to that is to ignore the bylaws?
It wouldn’t be the first time, and baby, it won’t be the last.
Note: Carroll County is voting by mail. To the best of my knowledge, that does satisfy the bylaws, and yes, we will happily update the context when new information makes it necessary.
