Frankly, I can’t think of any other things to add to the following list. It’s cheaper (albeit, much longer timewise) than an outright takeover and it allows, small “nudges” to corrupt and then collapse from within.
Today, I don’t even recognize the US of my youth. Yet, this is seen as “Progress”…
The only thing that hasn’t been happening are the “unnecessary strikes” as unions have gone from the private sector to being in the public sector (and making themselves into Special Interest Groups that advocate only for themselves rather than for public purposes. They’ve become their own self-satisfying Kingmakers). A few observations:
A. We are becoming an irreligious Country. One of the two main Political Parties, the Democrats, openly despise Christianity (e.g., booing God out of their Platform in 2012 and now no longer using “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance (if they say it at all)). While each generation is described by older ones as more and more superficial, all one has to do is see how little the younger generations know about the real issues of the day (but can reel off all kinds of things about video games, the latest celebrity gab, and the surfaces of pop culture).
And it is clear that Individuality is on it’s way out with said younger generations, thanks to our Fifth Column Education system, showing a preference for Socialism (again, only knowing the bare surfaces of that as well). We’re in the area of Pajama Boy:
B1. Go ahead, start asking college kids (and earlier) about the structure, make up, and processes of how Government, finance, and capitalism work. And most people seem to have a better grasp of how “their” professional or college athletic teams are doing than what politicians are doing to them.
B2. Do I REALLY have to say “Identity Politics” based on race, sex, nationality, immigration status….? What HASN’T been “divisionalized”?
B3. Frankly, our elected leaders do most of this all on their own with no help needed from anyone else. But it is true – those that seems to rise, either in the Culture, in a given Community
Sidenote: is there ANY word nowadays that is as overused and over-“important-ized” as the word “Community” has become? Frankly, it help to give rise to B2 (as in MY Community versus YOURs).
B4. The Left is always yammering about “Democracy” as if that is what we are. It’s another smoke and mirror example of redefining what we are – a Constitutional Republic. That said, the Left is always talking about protecting “democracy” but note that their actions are the exact opposite – to drive control and command away from local to as far up the chain and as far away geographically as possible (e.g., moving control of your town’s business to Concord – making it harder to have YOUR interests taken care of properly by local control).
B5. We’re over $27 Trillion in national debt. What happens when the budget line for paying the interest on that debt moves from the 4th largest line item to 1st – and from there keeps gulping up revenues as interest rates start nudging up? Think of the California towns / cities that are already complaining that to pay for public sector pensions, they’ve had to cut back on actual services to their residents. Yes, it “can happen here”.
B7. When “hard work”, “delayed gratification”, “show up on time”, marriage, duty, “keep your promises”, and the like are now microagressions and Political Correctness and the Social Justice Warriors keep doing the Orwell 1984 “shut UP!” step, this has been achieved.
C. Finding a Democrat that still believes in the Second Amendment (Article 2-A here in NH) is a fool’s errand (I know exactly ONE). “Common sense”, “weapons of war”, “civilized people”, and the like are all used as “thought weapons” to dismiss this Constitutional value.
Heck, the Progressives are undermining any of our history that promotes any of the above especially those underpinnings of the US Constitution.
Again, we start the New Year, ask yourself:
And what is my reaction to this?
