Breaking News: House agrees to up the $600 COVID payout to $2000

US Senate 2

And it seems that the Senate Dems are going vote for it as well:

Chuck Schumer: ‘No Democrats Will Object’ in the Senate to $2,000 Stimulus Checks

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said no Senate Democrats will object to increasing $600 coronavirus relief stimulus checks to $2,000. He made the announcement Sunday night following President Trump’s decision to sign the $2.3 trillion coronavirus relief and government spending bill passed by Congress last week.

“The House will pass a bill to give Americans $2,000 checks. Then I will move to pass it in the Senate. No Democrats will object. Will Senate Republicans?” Schumer asked late Sunday

And that puts the Rs into a debt / relief pickle. One of the rumors I saw was that Trump was persuaded to sign the $600 version so as to not screw up the chances of the Rs winning at least one of the two Senate seats in the GA runoff on Jan 5.  If the Rs turn it down, the bill fails and they’ll become the “Three-Days-After-Christmas-Grinches” – not a good look for people still struggling to survive with WuFlu lockdowns.

Frankly, as to the rest, I could care less if the Fed Govt shuts down – we’ve got 50 more right behind it. Any real shutdown by laying off “non-essential” personnel (again, NON-ESSENTIAL!) should be a realization that not all that the Feds do is essential and necessary.

NOTE: I THOUGHT I heard that on TV but it isn’t on the Clerk of the House website just yet so take my reporting with a bit of salt until I can confirm it.

UPDATE: Confirmed at NewsMax: House Approves $2,000 Coronavirus Aid Checks Sought by TrumpThis REALLY put pressure on the Senate Rs.

Frankly, enough is enough – it is the States’ Governors that have put the country into the pickle of “You broke it, you pay for it”. Problem is, methinks that they broke something that they have no way to pay for. The debt keeps piling up and up.
