Trust Issues – Jersey Postal Worker Busted This Week For Tossing Mail in a Dumpster

Poll workers have been known to prohibit access to people wearing NRA gear. They claim it reeks of partisan politics and is electioneering. But the Letter Carriers Union endorsed Joe Biden, and we’re letting them handle actual ballots, which keep turning up in ditches or dumpsters like this new case in Jersey.

According to the NY Post, a postal service worker just got busted for throwing out mail into dumpsters on October 2 and October 5 in Bergen County, NJ. …

The postal worker accused of doing the dumping in New Jersey, Nicholas Beauchene, 26, was arrested and charged with delay, secretion or detention of mail and one count of obstruction of mail. He could face up to five years in prison, if convicted.

The story has a happy ending. This mail was rescued, sorted, and delivered. But you have to ask if the vote-by-mail-fraud thing hasn’t exposed an existing issue. Postal employees dumping mail instead of delivering it. Just for kicks.

Maybe we need postal reform. Clearly, there is a problem with systemic delivery failure.  Is it race or sex-based? Democrats should demand we defund the postal office and hire therapists and social workers to handle letter carriers’ duties.

Another suggestion might be to end the government’s monopoly on first-class mail. The Constitution only says Congress shall have the power to establish post offices and post roads. They don’t have to run them just establish some oversight.

Nothing improves the quality or productivity while lowering costs than some competition. Let Amazon, FedEx, UPS, and anyone else who wants a wack at competing for value-based first-class mail services. USPS wastes billion annually. These companies would make it cheaper and profitable.

And odds are much better that your mail will be delivered on time, trackable online, with accountability.

As for voting, absentee ballots are still a thing when you away from your home when an election comes around. Everyone else, unless you really can’t get there or, in the age of RONA are that 0.3% who are at high risk,  should vote in person.

You know it’s true, so do it.
