Nancy Pelosi famously said that in order to figure out what was in Obamacare, they (the US House, US Senate, and President) had to pass it first. That day was one of the worst, if not THE worst, days in Legislative history.

Not only the takeover of all healthcare in the US (pretty much Fascism in how tightly controlling Government would be of private enterprises) but its absolute disdain for the spirit of the legislative process. Yes, the Democrats finally passed the bill (with NO Republican votes) so the “process” was fulfilled. However, the “spirit” of the process was totally broken.
Pelosi has infamously been quoted thousands of times now: “We have to pass the bill to see what is in the bill.” She really didn’t care what was in it – only that not just the camel’s nose but all of its head and neck made it under the tent. The feckless Republicans, thanks to turncoat John McCain, haven’t been able to get rid of it YET!
So here we are, same deal, but for an entire Presidency.
In a remarkable exchange between candidate Joe Biden and KTNV Las Vegas journalist Matt Dimattei, the intemperate democrat candidate says that voters are not allowed to know his position on packing the U.S. Supreme Court.
Dimattei: “Don’t the voters deserve to know?”
Biden: “No, they don’t deserve to know”…
And notice that Biden states the lie that this is the first time in history that a judge has been nominated in the last year of a president’s term. This is no way to respect the voters – even his own who may not care anyways but it is the Principle of “the thing”. ANYONE running for ANY kind of office should be totally open with voters. But that is how is running – what else don’t we know about? What will steer him during his Presidency?
Well, that is, as long as Dementia Joe can stay afloat in the Oval Office until Pelosi gets the 25th Amendment invoked and Kamala Harris gives Biden the Power Shove she’s always wanted to do. Can Gropey Joe be that demented that he hasn’t heard of Nancy’s coup-in-the-future plans – and has said nothing? If I was hearing him hearing that, I’d drop kick Kamala in a heartbeat and put in a RINO into her place as an insurance policy – “go ahead, I DARE you!”. You may think I’m the fool but would you really want that guy as Prez?
This not being forthright in campaigns is typical of Democrats. These sleights of hands in refusing to campaign on what they’d do – yet another distortion of the campaign process. Or, at least what most people believe it should be.
Tell us who you are and what you stand for. Tell us what you are going to do (and at this point, I’d rather hear “Undo Laws” than staple us to the ground with more) and then let us pick if we want you in office.
To lie about what you stand for by commission, or lie about what you stand for by omission is, well, still lying. They’ll talk about the smaller items but it always seems that some Big ones are always on the taxiway ready for takeoff and we never had an inkling.
And I’d be just as unhappy if a Republican did it. If you can’t be truthful during a campaign, why would we expect that you’d tell the truth during your term?
Packing the Court – now one of the largest items in the campaign right now. And with it, the rest of the Angry Toddler Syndrome items that have been used to threaten Republicans – pack the court, get rid of the Senate filibuster, raise taxes up the wazoo, make new States to pack the Senate and House – into abject cowardice.
I do hope that the Republicans understand that they’ll be doing ALL of that anyways regardless if ACB is confirmed or not. That’s how they roll and I would take them at their word that they’ll do them. So why not stand up to them and put her on that SCOTUS bench.
Heck – go preemptive NOW. If the Democrats want to change the rules, let the REPUBLICANS change them all now and reap the rewards. If the Democrats have now the temerity to foot-stomp their way to Power after threatening to change the rules, why shouldn’t the Republicans say “ok, Rule change – hold our beers” and just do it?
And maybe, just maybe, if the Dems see the Repubs do this more often, they might just quit this nonsense. After all, it was Harry Reid, the one eyed Democrat, that started this with getting rid of the “judicial filibuster” in the first place, never thinking that the Rs would ever take back the Senate. They did and ACB gets the shot. Sure, the Dems are ALL over Trump, McConnell, and the rest of the Republicans – but notice that they never blame themselves for making it possible?
That’s the other thing – Democrats never seem to take responsibility for their actions and the outcomes they engender.
