OpenTheBooks.com Matched the New York State Checkbook with Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Campaign Donor Disclosures

New York the Empire State has financial issues. So, to see what kind of emperor New York has OpenTheBooks.com did a comparison. They matched the New York state checkbook with Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s campaign donor disclosures. From 2014 to 2018, Cuomo solicited 377 state vendors.

Those vendors gave $4.6 million in campaign cash. For which they received $6.5 billion from state contracts. That’s a 1413% cash return on cash invested. Have you got any money in the market? How would you like to be able to get an annual rate of return of 1400%? Wonder where taxpayers go to get that deal? The statistics in this post come from OpenTheBooks.com and their article in RealClear Politics.

In Cuomo’s Empire State, 290,000 public employee salaries and pensions exceed $100,000. The cost to New York’s taxpayers is $38 billion annually. New York will receive $35 billion from the Pelosi Bailout Bill. Pelosi is their Hero. Like its sister California, New York is getting nearly a dollar-for-dollar bailout. It is good to have their generously compensated employees.

Bring on the examples

You’re not feeling abused by having to pick up the bill for the New York employee salaries are you? Well, then consider these wallet draining examples of New York largesse:

  • Plumbers working for the city of New York make $285,000 per year. ($23,750/month)
  • Police officers at the Port Authority of New York-New Jersey earn $423,467. ($35,289/month)
  • Long Island school superintendents make up to $547,049. ($45,587/month)
  • One 93-year old retired CUNY college professor receives a $561,754 pension. ($46,813/month)

New York’s General Assembly is not to be outdone. They recently hiked their own pay to $130,000. Compare that to New Hampshire’s $100 less taxes. They, the New York legislators, are now the most highly compensated legislators in the country.

Plus, 21 current representatives and state senators are double-dipping. This means they not only voted to increase their salaries. They also collect a salary and a pension at the same time from their same position. Sweet! Now that’s representation that just keeps getting.

And the people of New York sit still for the squeeze. No wonder they like the Biden sniff so much. Now, New York is the Empire State. But the Emperor is looking to pass his debt to you. That’s fair, right?
